I&#8217;m posting this one because I love the tune (Schm\u00fccke dich, o liebe Seele) and the words are exquisite.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Soul, adorn thyself with gladness,<br \/>\nLeave behind all gloom and sadness;<br \/>\nCome into the daylight&#8217;s splendor,<br \/>\nThere with joy thy praises render<br \/>\nUnto Him whose grace unbounded<br \/>\nHath this woundrous supper founded.<br \/>\nHigh o&#8217;er all the heavens He reigneth,<br \/>\nYet to dwell with thee He deigneth.<\/p>\n<p>Hasten as a bride to meet Him<br \/>\nAnd with loving reverence greet Him;<br \/>\nFor with words of life immortal<br \/>\nNow He knocketh at thy portal.<br \/>\nHaste to ope the gates before Him,<br \/>\nSaying, while thou dost adore Him,<br \/>\nSuffer, Lord, that I receive Thee,<br \/>\nAnd I nevermore will leave Thee.<\/p>\n<p>He who craves a precious treasure<br \/>\nNeither cost nor pain will measure;<br \/>\nBut the priceless gifts of heaven<br \/>\nGod to us hath freely given.<br \/>\nThough the wealth of earth were proffered,<br \/>\nNaught would buy the fits here offered:<br \/>\nChrist&#8217;s true body, for thee riven,<br \/>\nAnd His blood, for thee once given.<\/p>\n<p>Ah, how hungers all my spirit<br \/>\nFor the love I do not merit!<br \/>\nOft have I, with sighs fast thronging,<br \/>\nThought upon this food with longing,<br \/>\nIn the battle well-nigh worsted,<br \/>\nFor this cup of life have thirsted,<br \/>\nFor the Friend who here invites us<br \/>\nAnd to God Himself unites us.<\/p>\n<p>In my heart I find ascending<br \/>\nHoly awe, with rapture blending,<br \/>\nAs this mystery I ponder,<br \/>\nFilling all my soul with wonder,<br \/>\nBearing witness at this hour<br \/>\nOf the greatness of Thy power;<br \/>\nFar beyond all human telling<br \/>\nIs the power within Him dwelling.<\/p>\n<p>Human reason, though it ponder,<br \/>\nCannot fathom this great wonder<br \/>\nThat Christ&#8217;s body e&#8217;er remaineth<br \/>\nThough it countless souls sustaineth,<br \/>\nAnd that He His blood is giving<br \/>\nWith the wine we are receiving.<br \/>\nThese great mysteries unsounded<br \/>\nAre by God alone expounded.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus, Sun of Life, my Splendor,<br \/>\nJesus, Thou my Friend most tender,<br \/>\nJesus, Joy of my desiring,<br \/>\nFount of life, my soul inspiring, &#8212;<br \/>\nAt Thy feet I cry, my Maker,<br \/>\nLet me be a fit partaker<br \/>\nOf this blessed food from heaven,<br \/>\nFor our good, Thy glory, given.<\/p>\n<p>Lord, by love and mercy driven<br \/>\nThou hast left Thy throne in heaven<br \/>\nOn the cross for us to languish<br \/>\nAnd to die in bitter anguish,<br \/>\nTo forego all joy and gladness<br \/>\nAnd to shed Thy blood in sadness.<br \/>\nBy this blood, redeemed and living,<br \/>\nLord, I praise Thee with thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus, Bread of Life, I pray Thee,<br \/>\nLet me gladly here obey Thee.<br \/>\nBy Thy love I am invited,<br \/>\nBe Thy love with love requited;<br \/>\nFrom this Supper let me measure,<br \/>\nLord, how vast and deep love&#8217;s treasure.<br \/>\nThough the gifts Thou here dost give me<br \/>\nAs Thy guest in heaven receive me.<br \/>\n(HT: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lutheran-hymnal.com\/lyrics\/tlh305.htm\" title=\"Lutheran-Hymnal.Com -- Soul Adorn Thyself with Gladness\">Lutheran-Hymnal.Com<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m looking to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/LutheranWarbler?feature=watch\" title=\"Lutheran Warbler on YouTube\">Lutheran Warbler<\/a> again for this one.
