Unlike measles or mumps, you have to seriously come into contact with bodily fluids containing the virus.  Measles and mumps also have vaccines to prevent them, unlike Ebola and a few of the other diseases mentioned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 130%;\"><a name=\"qt2\"><\/a><strong><a href=\"#qt2\" style=\"color: black; text-decoration: none;\">&#8212; 2 &#8212;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Giddy.<\/strong> My boys (the Giants) are in the playoffs after beating Pittsburgh!  My other boys (the Cardinals) are playing Jon&#8217;s boys (the Dodgers) and of course, I&#8217;m rooting for the Cardinals in that one.  Ah&#8230; I love October &#8212; I just wish I had a TV so I could watch all of this.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 130%;\"><a name=\"qt3\"><\/a><strong><a href=\"#qt3\" style=\"color: black; text-decoration: none;\">&#8212; 3 &#8212;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Girding up my loins.<\/strong>  I thought <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artofmanliness.com\/2014\/10\/02\/how-to-gird-up-your-loins-an-illustrated-guide\/\" title=\"The Art of Manliness: How to Gird Up Your Loins  (An Illustrated Guide)\">this<\/a> was an interesting show of what it actually meant to &#8220;gird up your loins&#8221; back in the day.  It satisfies my &#8220;history geek&#8221; side.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 130%;\"><a name=\"qt4\"><\/a><strong><a href=\"#qt4\" style=\"color: black; text-decoration: none;\">&#8212; 4 &#8212;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The War on Rosh Hashanah.<\/strong> I&#8217;m very thankful that my friend Neil posted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/opinion\/2014\/10\/02\/The-War-onRosh-Hashanah\/stories\/201410020234\" title=\"Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The War on Rosh Hashanah\">this<\/a> on his Facebook.  It should give me something to be self-righteously indignant about until after Thanksgiving when I can obsess about the War on Advent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 130%;\"><a name=\"qt5\"><\/a><strong><a href=\"#qt5\" style=\"color: black; text-decoration: none;\">&#8212; 5 &#8212;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Benefit of Family Dinner.<\/strong> A friend of my bloggy friend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/barefootandpregnant\/\" title=\"Barefoot and Pregnant\">Calah<\/a> wrote <a href=\"http:\/\/redtentliving.com\/2014\/09\/24\/family-dinner\/\" title=\"Red Tent Living: Family Dinner\">this<\/a> and I absolutely love it.  (It&#8217;s about how eating dinner as a family saved her.)  Calah <a href=\"http:\/\/www.patheos.com\/blogs\/barefootandpregnant\/2014\/09\/its-about-the-family-not-the-food.html\" title=\"Barefoot and Pregnant: It\u2019s About the Family, Not the Food\">expounds on it<\/a> and I can relate.  It&#8217;s really hard to eat a family dinner because everyone here is on a different schedule with work, medication, and childcare.  We do manage it on occasion and it&#8217;s something I&#8217;ll be making an effort to try when Jon gets into his next parish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 130%;\"><a name=\"qt6\"><\/a><strong><a href=\"#qt6\" style=\"color: black; text-decoration: none;\">&#8212; 6 &#8212;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>An interesting view on waiting until a later age to date.<\/strong>  I love Michelle.  I love <a href=\"http:\/\/scenesfromthewild.net\/\" title=\"Scenes from the Wild\">her blog<\/a>.  I love her family and wish I could be adopted in because they are so insanely cool and they seem to have so much fun!  The particular post I&#8217;m sharing is on <a href=\"http:\/\/scenesfromthewild.net\/2014\/09\/to-date-or-to-wait-what-were-talking-about-in-my-kitchen-right-now.html\" title=\"Scenes from the Wild: To date or to wait: what we\u2019re talking about in my kitchen right now\">why one should wait until age 16 to date<\/a>.  She&#8217;s Mormon so it is written from that perspective but I found a number of her arguments compelling.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 130%;\"><a name=\"qt7\"><\/a><strong><a href=\"#qt7\" style=\"color: black; text-decoration: none;\">&#8212; 7 &#8212;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Super Woman.<\/strong> On days I torture myself on my core ball, I usually go for a 1 mile loop around the neighborhood for the purposes of getting some cardio as well as getting in some prayer time.  (I pray for people while I walk and usually I&#8217;m walking a 5K.)  I run into a lot of the same people every morning and one of them is an older man walking a dog.
