<\/center><\/p>\n<\/a>— 1 —<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Alabama Senate Take #1.<\/strong> As I mentioned last week, my feeling at Doug Jones winning the Alabama Senate race was not unbounded joy and a desire to yell “SUCKAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” at Republicans. (I don’t do that anyway. The proof is here<\/a>.) My feeling at the election results was honestly just plain relief because the person I felt was a better candidate (and not an alleged child molester) won.<\/p>\n Samantha Bee put it best when she said last year that an election is usually between two fundamentally decent people with a difference of opinion. I really do not believe Roy Moore is a decent human being. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one because his potential colleagues in the Senate were calling him to drop out and some of them were even publicly donating to Doug Jones’s campaign. If Moore had won, there would have been an immediate ethics inquiry — this is coming from people on BOTH sides of the aisle.<\/p>\n <\/a>— 2 —<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Alabama Senate Take #2.<\/strong> Seriously people, what the f-bomb<\/a>?!?!?!? You send a 12 year old to interview someone accused of molesting and sexually assaulting teenaged girls?!?!?!<\/p>\n <\/a>— 3 —<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n An interesting op-ed.<\/strong> This piece<\/a> by former acting attorney general Sally Q. Yates is worth reading.<\/p>\n <\/a>— 4 —<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Oy vey.<\/strong> I know the Babylon Bee<\/a> is satire but this piece<\/a> hits too close to home for me. Even after more than 20 years of being a Christian and even longer fighting depression, I *STILL* have to hear stuff like it from seemingly well-meaning people.<\/p>\n <\/a>— 5 —<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n My next challenge.<\/strong> I’m working with the Spanish-speaking mission that shares my church’s building and priest on bookkeeping and best practices for finances so I’m starting to teach myself Spanish using Memrise<\/a>. If it works, I might start trying to learn Arabic using their site.
