It is in a minor key and it doesn&#8217;t contain the A-word (or H-word depending on spelling).  I remember singing it at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.incarnationmt.com\" title=\"Church of the Incarnation\">Church of the Incarnation<\/a> the last time I was there for a full Eucharist in March 2009.  I wish I hadn&#8217;t had pregnancy grumpiness because it was Rite I and lovely.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The God of Abraham praise,<br \/>\nwho reigns enthroned above;<br \/>\nAncient of everlasting days,<br \/>\nand God of love;<br \/>\nJehovah, great I AM,<br \/>\nby earth and heaven confessed:<br \/>\nI bow and bless the sacred Name<br \/>\nfor ever blessed.<\/p>\n<p>The God of Abraham praise,<br \/>\nat whose supreme command<br \/>\nfrom earth we rise, and seek the joys<br \/>\nat his right hand;<br \/>\nwe all on earth forsake,<br \/>\nits wisdom, fame and power;<br \/>\nand him our only portion make,<br \/>\nour Shield and Tower.<\/p>\n<p>The goodly land we see,<br \/>\nwith peace and plenty blessed:<br \/>\na land of sacred liberty<br \/>\nand endless rest;<br \/>\nthere milk and honey flow,<br \/>\nand oil and wine abound,<br \/>\nand trees of life for ever grow,<br \/>\nwith mercy crowned.<\/p>\n<p>There dwells the Lord, our King,<br \/>\nthe Lord, our Righteousness,<br \/>\ntriumphant o&#8217;er the world and sin,<br \/>\nthe Prince of Peace;<br \/>\non Zion&#8217;s sacred height<br \/>\nhis kingdom he maintains,<br \/>\nand, glorious with his saints in light,<br \/>\nfor ever reigns.<\/p>\n<p>The God who reigns on high,<br \/>\nthe great archangels sing,<br \/>\nand &#8220;Holy, holy, holy,&#8221; cry,<br \/>\n&#8220;Almighty King!&#8221;<br \/>\nWho was and is the same,<br \/>\nand evermore shall be:<br \/>\nJehovah, Father, great I AM,<br \/>\nwe worship thee.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The whole triumphant host<br \/>\ngive thanks to God on high;<br \/>\n&#8220;Hail, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost&#8221;<br \/>\nthey ever cry;<br \/>\nhail, Abraham&#8217;s God and mine;<br \/>\nI join the heavenly lays;<br \/>\nall might and majesty are thine,<br \/>\nand endless praise!<br \/>\n&#8212; The Hymnal 1982 #401 <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>(HT: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oremus.org\/hymnal\/t\/t149.html\" title=\"Lyrics for The God of Abraham Praise\">Oremus<\/a> for the lyrics)<\/p>\n<p>Here is a YouTube video of it from an LCMS congregation (St. Lorenz in Frankenmuth, MI).
