Only in a Small Town…
I went to town yesterday to get prescriptions renewed and to do a hospital visit before going to the local coffeeshop to read.Â? Apparently, I was so out of it that I left my prescriptions on the counter and walked out of the store without them.Â? About an hour or two later, I ran into my pharmacist at Albertson’s and she told me that she had my prescriptions, offering to meet me back at the pharmacy to go get them after she grabbed a few things.Â? So… I do have my meds and I’m thankful that I don’t have to wait until Monday.
Sadness
I was talking to Mom when she got a message from my uncle in Great Falls (her older brother).Â? They had put their eldest cat Fredd to sleep around New Year’s Eve (he had MASSIVE kidney failure) and apparently, their other cat Loogy decided to join his brother on the Rainbow Bridge.Â? He suffered a recurrence of the thrombosis attack that he had 8 years ago (I can’t remember the exact name but it paralyzes the lower limbs and is excruciating for the cat) and didn’t survive this one.Â? He was in good shape otherwise and so this is a shock and also very sad because Loogy was a great cat.Â? (Loogy and Freya are clones except that Freya has eyeliner and Loogy had a mustache.)
Please keep my aunt and uncle in your prayers, especially my uncle because this is like losing two kids at once.
Minnesota Can’t Count
Updated My 101 in 1001
My last day of this is actually May 12th but I decided to go see how I’d done.
My list is here.Â? I knocked 10 items off this during this last year.Â? Go me!
Resolution Redux from Last Year and New Ones for This Year
So here are my resolutions from last year and how I did with them:
-not eat any blue paint: Kept it
-develop healthier habits now that Iâ????m working and have limited spare time to exercise:Â? Ummm… yes and no.Â? When I wasn’t injured, sick, or pregnant, I did.Â? Otherwise, no dice.
–do what I can to fight injustice, hunger, and poverty in the world: Ran Day of Blogs and blogged in it.Â? I guess that counts.
-work on my relationship with God: This is kind of ongoing.
OK… here are my new ones:
-not to eat any green paint (figuring that I’m doing well enough on the blue stuff)
-to not badmouth my co-workers when they aren’t present (I’ll do parishioners next year if this works)
-to get bills out on time
-to blog more often
-to have a healthy rest of my pregnancy
Seattle Trip 2008: The Good, the Bad, and the Moronic
We just got back from our sort-of annual pilgrimage to the Holy Land, I mean Seattle to hang with my peeps.Â? Here is the normal redux:
The Good
-getting to see my parents, evil twin, and his fiancÃ?e again
-good food most of the time
-family bonding
-getting to see my godmother again and meeting her new puppy Rosie (who might almost make me into a dog person)
-nice presents
-my mommy hemming 4 pairs of maternity pants for me (as I’m pretty useless with a sewing machine)
-the pictures we loaded onto my grandma’s digital picture frame
-my grandma’s calico cat Emily who has become nice in her old age
The Bad
-Seattle drivers — let’s just say that they can’t drive in good weather so expecting them to drive well in slush is a bit unreal
-having to shovel and crack the snow/ice on my grandmother’s driveway so all the cars could get in and out
-Seattle traffic — Seattlites are in denial about the fact that it exists
-morning sickness at month 4(!!!!!!) of my pregnancy and the laundry that accompanied it
-missing my monsters at home
The Moronic
-the backpatting that the mayor of Seattle was doing about how well he and the city handled the storm — he gave himself and the city a “B” which most people would argue should be a “D-” or “F”.
-the fact that King County has 26 snow plows and my county (with less than 1% of that population) has 5.
