A favor from another blogger…
A request from a fellow Blogathonner:
I am blogging for The Armed Forces Foundation and I have an Expression Engine (EE) blog. What the hell does that have to do with anything? EE has a plugin which allows you to throw up a random quote everytime the page is reloaded. I thought, well, what hte hey. Why don’t I use it to my advantage during the ‘Thon?
I want to have random messages to miltary personnel show up on the blog during the ‘Thon. It could be as short as “Thanks!” to as long as “I really appreciate what you do for our country.” or longer.
But I need help. I need messages for the plugin to pull from. Send me some messages! You can do it here. You can do it at my related entry on my blog or you can email me at burningwords @ gmail.com (excluding the spaces there).
And pass it on to your friends and their friends and their friends…
I think it’s cool, so I’m passing the word on!
You Know You Live in Rural Montana When…
the entire town gathers to watch/shoot off fireworks and you fit on someone’s deck.Â? :)Â? (OK… we had maybe 8-10 people overflowing into lawnchairs on the ground too.)
It was definitely fun despite some of the fireworks not getting enough height before exploding.Â? We ended up running for cover and having to stomp out fires a few times.Â? Afterwards, we had dessert: 4 kinds of ice cream (we were joking that someone beat up the Schwan’s man and stole his cache), spice cake, cookies, and jello (we were all Lutherans after all).
Independence Day
Happy Independence Day to all my Yankee readers.
I was at a Farmer’s Union BBQ for lunch and I’ll go shoot off fireworks with neighbors when the sun sets.Â? (Yes, we can have fireworks.Â? This is Montana.Â? The only thing not allowed are cruise missiles.)
It’s been a restful day which is good — I accidentally worked 30 mins of overtime yesterday, so I’ll have to take a long lunch tomorrow.Â? (I’m not supposed to go over my allotted hours but hopefully I’m not going to be in too much trouble for it.)Â? At least my 30 minutes of overtime accomplished my part in a project that we’ve been working on at the clinic…
That’s pretty much all that’s going on other than being finished (finally!) with translations for the Blogathon.
Pimp That Blog!
Cat of Blogathon.Org wishes to ask that people mention Blogathon 2006 on their sites. The idea is basically that the more mentions the event gets, the more pledges everyone else can receive.
So… please add a link to the ‘Thon on your site. And hey… I wouldn’t be opposed to people mentioning my site either…
All Ready To Go
I’m all registered on the Blogathon 2006 site.Â? My site is here.Â? My page on how to sponsor me is here.Â? I’m blogging on behalf of Lutheran World Relief, which does really awesome work globally with issues of disaster relief, fair-trade economics, health care, AIDS work, etc.
The Blogathon is from 7:00 am on July 29th to 7:00 am on July 30th.Â? Hope to see all y’all there!
Pure and Utter Exhaustion
Even though I got enough sleep last night, I can’t seem to shake the vale of exhaustion that has come over me.
This could be due to several things:
[+] the flipping heat
[+] the lack of caffeine and sugar in my body (since I was living on Coke for 2 weeks as it was one of the few things that killed the taste of the Biaxin and Ceftin)
[+] working 4 days this past week
I have two pages left to translate for the Blogathon and need some encouragement to do them.Â? Anyone want to come online and be my cheerleader?Â? 🙂
