About Jen

Jen isn't quite sure when she lost her mind, but it is probably documented here on Meditatio. She blogs because the world needs her snark at all hours of the night... and she probably can't sleep anyway.

For the Sake of Settling My Stomach

The council president of Church #2 called looking for Jon. I gave him the phone number for Church #1 (where Jon is doing busy work so that he’s not home moping) and called Jon 15 minutes later to make sure that he was OK.

I wish Montana Synod would get their @$$es in gear on this — they SAID Billings would be opening and they SAID it was Jon’s if Havre didn’t work out. This is making me nauseous and it’s doing similar things to Jon. Unfortunately, the “throw up the contents of your stomach from nerves” diet is not a great way to live or lose weight.

I just wish I knew what was next. I know this is a test of faith and all that jazz but… it’s ripping me apart.

Could We Work Together On This?

OK God… you’re telling me to trust You with all this fun stuff. It’s kind of hard when there’s so much that’s in the air and needing to be done.

Could you puh-lease work with me on the following things:

  • Jon getting a call before he hands in his resignation papers
  • The Volvo getting fixed
  • Being able to find housing wherever we’re going
  • Enabling me to feel safe at church
  • Curing both my anxiety and Jon’s

Ummm… thanks and Amen.

An Afternoon at the Fair

I woke up at 11 something this morning and suggested to Jon that we head to the fair for lunch. We did and we had a great time. I love going to the LQP County fair because a lot of our kids are in 4-H and it’s always fun to see their animals and their projects. We also saw the quilts and it wasn’t a surprise that a couple of our ladies won big in that category. I’d thought about entering some crocheting this year but didn’t have any projects that would have been acceptable since I make most of my stuff for other people.

We got to pet some of the animals (lambs and bunnies!) and I got to hold some baby chicks. Yes Krissy, we did see ducks — BIG ones. It’s making me ponder eating meat after seeing some of the animals but that’s another issue entirely…

We also went to the LQP County Museum which is at the fairgrounds and looked around. It was pretty cool because I actually knew the descendants of some of the people who had donated things to it. Robert Bly (proud son of Madison and distinguished poet) was there as was Bill Holm. Bly gave Jon an autographed copy of Iron John and he and I bantered about politics. (He had noticed all the DFL stickers on my shirt and he commented on them. I told him that I am neither Democrat nor Republican — I vote my conscience and my conscience is NOT Bush. His response: “I’m sorry for your conscience.”) Holm and I discussed Irish whiskey (there was an audience and it was really fun).
