I’m running out of things to blog about. (Things exist but they haven’t happened yet.) Thus, I am opening up my blog to any questions you have about me. Leave any questions in my comments and when I get enough of them, I’ll devote a post to answering them.

Confirmation and Palm Sunday
Confirmation at one of Jon’s parishes was yesterday and the service went well. We did have one kid almost faint but we got him off his feet before he fell. The kids read their faith statements and did a great job. The two most touching ones were the ones from two of my kids who have learning disabilities. The music was wonderful despite not having enough communion hymns to cover the communing of 150 people. (Our communion system works well for 60 and acceptably for 100. 150, however, is 45 minutes of sitting. Our sanctuary couldn’t even accomodate that many.) I also had to go get more wine and one of the fathers had to go and get more cups with me. Afterward, we had a lunch for the kids and then we went to the open houses for three of them. I’m not planning on eating again until probably Thursday — I am still completely stuffed because I had to eat at all three places (though not too much) to be polite. We slept until noon today — we were just so exhausted.
The other church’s Palm Sunday service was wonderful. We sang All Glory, Laud, and Honor (which I love and unfortunately only gets sung once a year) and the kids processed around with palms. We had just enough wine consecrated for communion and I could see our deacon mumbling a prayer about that. Jon’s sermon was excellent and featured some Hebrew — something that made the interim pastor (who was worshipping with us because he was also going to be at the confirmation service and thought he should make appearances at both churches in the parish) joke that Jon was trying to upstage him. 🙂
Huskies Trounce Gophers
ESPN.Com: Connecticut 67, Minnesota 58
It was a good game. UConn was heavily favored and did win but the Gophers gave them a run for their money. The game was within two points a few times. I feel bad because it would be great if Lindsay Whalen had gotten a national championship her last year playing but it’s how these things go.
My Charity Afghan Is Complete
I finished edging the afghan with the help of my felixes (orange ones included) and washed it several times to try and get rid of some of the fur. I then aired it out and took this picture.

On Monday, I’ll mail it to San Francisco where Afghans for Afghans will sort and mail it to Central Asia. I’m having some separation anxiety as I’ve worked so hard on it and now it’s headed to a place I can only dream about. I’m working on a patchwork afghan for myself in the same colors as the one I’m sending because I love them and I have lots of black yarn left over.

Allergies
I went to see an allergy/asthma specialist because my asthma has been bad lately, mostly due to the incompetence of one of the doctors at my local clinic who basically threw pills and inhalers at me when I came in complaining of congestion and tight-chestedness. The consensus from the good doctor I saw was that I really should see a specialist who deals in allergies and asthma and that I was probably allergic to my cats. I was skeptical because I’ve had cats since I was born and I would have manifested an allergy by now.
Well… I saw the allergist and they did a skin test on my back. I’m allergic to multiple types of grasses, dust mites, oat pollen, and… mildly allergic to cats. She was not happy to hear about my feline herd and explained that I would have to ban them from the bedroom. We also talked about my asthma and came up with a game plan for how to deal with it. She’s keeping me on my meds as I’ve not really had all that much stability and it would be good if we could have me on something long enough to make a difference. (I’m also getting sick of having pills and inhalers thrown at me every time something new comes out on the market.)
I explained to my cats (who were all sitting on the bed when I got home) that I was allergic to them. They stared at me as if to say “and this is our problem???” *sigh* I can’t really ban them from the bedroom so I think I’ll have to clean like a banshee and get some old sheets to use as cat spreads.
Rick’s Friday Five
1) what would you do the first day after being elected president?
Sleep in and send my vice-president out to get me some chai at C’bou.
2) what would you do the first day after losing the election for president?
I’m with Rick on this — prank call the White House pressroom. *goes off to think of a good prank call*

4) as vice president, on which late night talk show would you like to be a guest?
Letterman. Why is there any question of this????
