After coming home from a tiring day at work, I saw this when I was turning the corner in the driveway.

Rainbows have always been a sign that things will be OK for me.Â? I really needed this today.Â? Thank you Opa!

I got this for my dad.Â? He’s the only person I know who would appreciate the idea of this book more than me and find it funny in a really sad way.
For my father-in-law, I’m sending $$$ for him to see the Prairie Home Companion movie and to go to In-n-Out as well.Â? (I’m hoping that the karmic payback is that I get taken there when I get to So-Cal in September.)
[+] The comment on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me regarding Dubya’s claim that he “was gonna go read at Camp David” when instead he went to Iraq: “People who read don’t say things like that.”Â? Agreed.Â? You “go curl up with a good book”, not “go read”.Â? I’m going to refrain from commentary on Dubya and literacy because that would be wrong.
[+]Â? Overheard in the house today: “Freya!Â? Stop annexing Mommy’s crocheting!”Â? She is an evil cat but very cute.
[+] I’m working on the translations for the Blogathon site and also trying to get a new layout up for my Blogathon site.Â? I’ll probably be blogging on behalf of the National Parkinson Foundation.Â? I’ll post more on this later on.
I slept until 3 p.m. today.Â? I don’t recommend it. I wasn’t hung over or anything, just comfortable and snuggled up with a black cat.Â? Now I’m just exhausted and not sure I’m going to sleep tonight.Â? Great one, Jen.
The “kill-all-the-bacteria-in-thy-body” antibiotics are making my sinus crap go away.Â? Well… that and the massive amount of Claritin I’ve shoved down my throat.Â? The downside of the antibiotics: they leave a nasty taste in my mouth which can only be killed by a can of Coke.Â? So much for giving up the soda.
I work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday this week, so… 2 days down and 1 to go.Â? I get to wear jeans tomorrow.Â? Woohoo!
Off I go to shower, wash my Crocs, and snuggle with the princess of panthers…
OK… just got back from Oregon. In true ::Meditatio:: style, here’s my rundown of it all.
The Good
[+] Seeing parts of my family again that I haven’t seen in more than 15 years.
[+] Seeing some old neighbors again, especially since I’m essentially an adopted daughter. 🙂
[+] Meals with 12-20 family members.
[+] Banana coconut frappucinos every day.
[+] $tarbucks and breakfast in bed on Sunday. (Thanks Mommy!)
[+] Playing in the surf in Lincoln City.
[+] Bush Park in Salem (where my former neighbors retired to and where they are uber-involved in things).
[+] The C terminal at Sea-Tac.
[+] Playing in Ritner Creek with two very adorable little boys.
[+] “Desire of the Everlasting Hills” by Thomas Cahill. (Re-reading it for the first time in 6 years.)
[+] Family picture slideshows.
[+] Climbing over gates and through blackberry bushes to get to the house where my grandfather grew up.
[+] My brother’s reading of High Flight.
[+] Making it through “Let All Things Now Living” at the memorial service without crying.
[+] Blackberry green tea frappucinos from $tarbucks.
The Bad
[+] Being allergic to the entire state of Oregon.
[+] Wicked PMS.
[+] Grass pollen.
[+] Stupid meth makers who have forced states to require the signing over of one’s life to get a flipping box of Claritin.
[+] Prickliness of blackberry bushes.
The Emotional
[+] Saturday morning.
[+] Speaking about my grandfather and the letter I was putting in the tacklebox.Â? (My grandfather’s ashes were buried in his tackle box. Believe me, it was very fitting.)
[+] Listening to various family members speak on Saturday morning, especially my cousin’s kids.
[+] Sitting with crying family members.
[+] Watching planes take off and land at Sea-Tac this morning. (My grandfather was a pilot for the U.S. Navy and then for United Airlines for 30+ years.)
[+] The poem my cousin Sari wrote for the funeral service. (She couldn’t read it so it was placed in the tackle box.)
[+] Everyone taking a shovel full of dirt and placing it on the box.
[+] Saying good-bye to everyone yesterday.
