The New Form of the Nigerian Email Scam?

I got this a few days ago and it’s so similar to the Nigerian email scam that I’m posting it.

Beloved Greetings,

As you read this,I don’t want you to feel sorry for me, because,I believe everyone will die someday. My name is Ing.Clemence Didier, from Republique of Cote D’Ivoire,I have been diagnosed with esophageal cancer, which was discovered very late, due to my laxity in caring for my health. It has defiled all forms of medication, and right now I have only about a few months to live, according to medical experts.

I have since lost my power of speech and can only manage to write now,as that has been the only way I am able to communicate.I have not particularly lived my life so well,as I never really cared for anyone not even myself but my business.Though I am rich,I was never generous,I was always hostile to people and only focus on my business as that is the only thing I cared for.But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world.I believe when the Almighty gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it.

Now that I know my time is uncertain,I have willed and given most of my properties and assets to my immediate and extended family members and as well as a few close Friends.

I want the Almighty to be merciful to me and accept my soul. So,I have decided to give alms to charity organizations,as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I did on earth. So far,I have distributed money to some charity organizations in Kenya, and war torn liberia. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly,I cannot do this my self any more.I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and donate the money, which I have to charity organizations in Somali/Indonesia and any charitable organisation in Europe, they refused and kept the money to themselves.

Hence,I do not trust them anymore,as they seem not to be contented with what I have left for them. The last of my money which none among my family knows of the huge cash deposit that I have in a bank.I will want you to help me collect this deposit and dispatch it to charity organizations as the trustee.

Best Regards,

Ing.Clemence Didier

Global Warming?

It’s in the 50’s here and windy with a possibility of rain. Why couldn’t it have been this nice when I was doing Blogathon 2009 a few weeks ago???? Thursday was a nice rainy day… which we usually get in autumn!!! I had to take some naps with Daniel that day — a sacrifice but worth it! 🙂

I’m trying to come up with a list for 101 in 1001 to do on here. Part of it is that when I think of things, I’m not online or not upstairs (where my laptop is). Jon is getting a laptop for his birthday and I’m looking at wireless routers. To my techies: what do you recommend?

I’m also SERIOUSLY enjoying the Wait Wait people making fun of Woodstock being 40 years ago.

What I Got Done Today

I did some “geek-cleaning” as my m-i-l would say…

[+] Got my Blogathon site on hiatus. Comments are off and I’ll probably not be posting until next spring when I start prepping for the 2010 ‘thon.

[+] Took down the main page of Peacefulwaters.Org for updating. I need to revamp the domain and figure out what I want to do with it.

[+] Got stuff done on Farmtown and MyZoo. I’m stuck on level 13 on MyZoo and need visitors which is irritating me.

Blogathon 2009: The Good, the Bad, and the Different for Next Year

So… this is the redux of my Blogathon 2009 experience.

Good
-participating this year even though I didn’t think I’d be able to.
-doing as well as I did fundraising — I count my number of sponsors as evidence of that.
-getting to be the charity liaison for the event.
-having a laptop that did not overheat and go out during the event.
-making it through though I’d had less than 4 hours of sleep over 48 hours by the time all was said and done.
-not having to dance the Timewarp on crutches this year
-watching people mortify themselves in the Blogathon Karaoke Challenge
-Drew & Sam’s visit

Bad
-being so out of it that I couldn’t walk straight or type coherently by the time all was said and done.
-the stifling heat of my study
-the difficulty in re-telling my story because it’s still painful
-my camera went dead early on so nothing exciting from me in the Blogathon photostream after awhile
-did not get through the projects I planned

Different for Next Year
-have wifi in the parsonage so I can change rooms to blog
-different charity (I change yearly)
-more drinking of water and less caffeine
-plan healthier snacks

You can pledge me until Friday by clicking on all the sponsor me links. I’ll probably close out comments on entries next week so that I don’t have a year of spam sitting in my Blogathon email.
