Importing Entries

I imported the entries from my old candidacy journal into Meditatio today. (Hence the reason that I have archives going back to September. I think I’ll start entering in 10 pages of my old MT entries a day or something. That way, I’ll have them in in about 20 days. If only I could import into b2 like I did into MT…

My Ofoto Email

Those of you who have seen my photo albums know that the address I use for it is different than my domain email. Part of it is that I get a lot of Ofoto spam stuff; but the other reason is that my domain email account with them got used by other people, and when I logged in a few weeks ago, I found some photo albums that I had never viewed and that really scared me. I deleted all of them and then changed the email and password on that account so that whoever went in and played with my Ofoto stuff can’t get in again. The really strange thing: the photo albums were of some person who went to high school with me. I’ve pretty much divorced myself from the people with whom I went to high school (Eric and Abra being the exceptions), so I’m wondering who got into my account.

Why You Don’t Mess With Jen When She Is On Pain Meds

[the site that must not be named] still has the link to /narnia up and I’m getting a little irritated since I want this domain disassociated from [the site that must not be named]. I emailed the webmaster and asked him to take my link off of his site. It’s removing a few lines of HTML coding — it isn’t that hard! What irritates me most is that it was done in defiance. The reference is just http://peacefulwaters.org/narnia — no description or even an effort to mention the name, making me think it was done kind of carelessly. I also emailed the routers, since their the ones that bring the site into the US.

And yes, I know I’m being a bit of a bitch (the hours are good and there’s no heavy lifting) but… I feel like I should have the freedom to post what I need in order to deal with my life without having my words used to hock trendy kitsch.

Cache of My Links

A lot of my people have interesting posts or ones that I would comment upon so… a cache of my links!

Bene Diction has some good Canadian links today. I loved the Canadian-American translator (though I wish the American English was my dialect of it) but the links on poutine made me mentally calculate the amount of damage I’d be doing to my arteries by eating it. (Saying this of course as I sit here eating my nice breakfast of Quaker oatmeal with raisins, nutmeg, cinnamon, and walnuts. And of course, drinking some Coke.) Cheese curd, fries, and gravy — ummm… no. That would be a Crohn’s flare-up in a bowl for me!

On Wayne’s blog, there has been the discussion on women and ordination. It’s been polite so far and then someone made the following comment:

The ordination of women should not be tolerated. There is no Scriptural support unless you willfully ignore clear passages and accept the more difficult ones (a clear methodological error by the way…) When Paul tells us that women are not to be in authority over the man in God’s church I think a 5 year old knows what that means.

Apparently, the 5 year-olds in my church are much more adept at New Testament history than the 5 year-olds in his church. 🙂 It also appears that he’s a little ignorant about the nature of Paul’s epistles and is neglecting to remember that they are letters to the churches addressing certain specific problems within those individual churches. The church in Corinth had problems with homosexuality that the church in Galatia didn’t have. My response was:

Most of the churches that ordain women also are not die-hard Reformed ones, so the covenantal matters that you speak of are not issues that they had to address. As I recall, Luther’s marriage to his wife Katie was counter-cultural for the time. And William, even the 5 year-olds in my church know enough about Paul to know that his letters are to individual churches. I’ll also invite you to my ordination in three years. 🙂

If you want more discussion on the subject, visit my candidacy blog.

Kristen speaks of wanting to hear John Donne recite poetry in heaven. I heartily concur.

Doug aspires to be a child again. A good goal… except that I just grew up. Ah well… I have the rest of my life to be an adult, but limited time to make use of my childish attributes. 🙂

Management Request

The management of this blog has this to say regarding comments:

This is my space to rant and vent about what I think appropriate. If you disagree, that’s fine. You may express your disagreement. I have a few requests though (which are CLEARLY outlined on the right sidebar as well as here).

1.) If you want to write a long comment (more than one long paragraph or two medium ones), just email me. Long comments take up too much space.
2.) If you have an agenda to push, go elsewhere. I’m referring to the comment left on my “State of the Union Undressed” entry. There was nothing of real edifying substance in the comment, so I deleted it. It’s MY blog and MY right.
3.) If you’re going to comment about an egregious wrong of mine, why don’t you leave me a website or email address so I can get back to you? That way, I can address the wrong and we can discuss it. If you don’t leave me contact info, it’s a “drive-by posting” and doesn’t enable discussion and will cause me to censor or delete your comment.
4.) If you hate my Democrat-leanings, deal with it. I don’t go on your blog and call you a fascist just because you agree with the Usurper in the White House, so don’t rip my beliefs on mine.

Management thanks you and wishes you a pleasant surfing experience.
