If You’re Going to Lose, Lose Boldly.

So I did the Toole County 5K Dash for Health this morning.Â? I planned to just walk it because my asthma wasn’t going to let me run and besides, I have a sinus infection.Â? So… I walked it and came in… dead last.Â? The ambulance was following me.Â? My time was probably around an hour for finishing (especially since neither my lungs nor legs felt like working toward the end) but dangit I FINISHED!!!!!!!!

Everyone was cheering for me when I got to the finish line (which made me feel more and hey… free BBQ afterwards for participating and I won a shirt in the drawing.

I came home, checked to see if they needed any help at VBS, showered, checked email, and promptly COLLAPSED on the couch for 5 hours and slept.

My goal if I do it next year: finish in less time.Â? I’m not even going to pretend that I can run it, especially with all the freaking hills in Shelby.

Learn to Whine Convincingly

I didn’t fall asleep until about 3 this morning (shouldn’t have slept in yesterday…) so I was feeling icky and tired today.Â? I commented to one of the nurses (who is also a parishioner) that if I’d been thinking, I would have had Doc-Who-Was-On-Duty see me because I thought I might have a sinus infection.Â? Her response: “Go ask him.”

So I went and told him that I thought I might have a sinus infection and would probably not be able to see my normal doc for a week and asked politely if he would pleasepleaseplease look at me.Â? He checked my ENT (ear/nose/throat) and wrote me a script for antibiotics.Â? I thanked him profusely and went and re-scheduled 2 of his procedures off of his on-call day.Â? It was the least I could do.Â? 🙂

Hellooooo Sinus Infection

My neck was bugging me last night and the lovely Flexeril tablet I took made me sleep until 1:30 pm today with a few phone interruptions.Â? Ever since I got up, it’s been like I’m floating on a happy cloud. Lalalalalalalalalalalaaaaa…

Jon’s at a pastor’s conference until tomorrow so I drove to Town Where I Work and got my gas cap back from the gas station where I left it yesterday and curled up in the town cafÃ? for lunch.Â? Came home and decided to actually get online and check email.Â? 4 hours later… I’m still here.Â? I discovered the A Day in My Life community on LJ.Com and I swear it’s worse than MySpace in terms of addiction.

Oh yeah… the sinus infection: I’m stuffed up, have had headaches where the front of my face feels like I’ve been in a boxing match, and my ears are plugged.Â? Hopefully this all disapates a little because I can’t see my PCP for about a week.Â? (I work Monday – Wednesday next week and have stuff in Great Falls on Thursday which means that I can’t see my normal doc until Friday.)Â? Perhaps one of the docs at the clinic where I work will take pity on me and just call in some drugs?Â?Â? I doubt it but one can dream.Â? This could also just be allergies…

South Dakota and Abortion

The comments are turned off on this entry because I don’t want to start a flame war and also because I’m simply telling you what happened in South Dakota.

This law did not just randomly get passed — it’s been in the works for a couple years now.Â? They almost had it passed in 2004 but the governor refused to sign the bill because it didn’t provide for safety regulations for abortions performed while the constitutionality of the law was being challenged in the courts.Â? As one who is pro-life/pro-legal, that was not necessarily a bad thing — the governor is anti-abortion but he wanted to make sure things were safe until the law was absolutely iron-clad.

There is also only one clinic in SD that performs abortions and they have to fly doctors in from Minnesota, so this really doesn’t change much.

Argh!!!!!!!

Dear Skin,
I don’t know if you’re being a pain because you’re dry or because there’s an allergen in the air and I didn’t take my Allegra this morning.Â? You’ve been pacified with gifts of Claritin and Aveeno so STOP THE FLIPPING ITCHINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cuddles,
jen

Ick

The symptoms for which I’m on antibiotics are gone.Â? Food is however still icky and I’m exhausted, maybe because I slept fitfully last night.Â? Showering this morning did make me feel better (or at least look less like a really hideous drag queen) and I’ve been downing cranberry juice, ginger ale, and water to try and keep my fluids up and flush the icky stuff out of my body.

Maybe a nap wouldn’t be a bad thing for me?

State of the Union Drinking Game

Here is the game for this year.Â? Since I’m under doctor’s orders to drink enough water to drown myself, I could theoretically play.Â? However, I’m already dealing with nausea and vomiting so I think I’ll skip the speech.

Enjoy and if you choose to imbibe, please imbibe responsibly.Â? The management of this blog is not responsible for any cirrhosis, alcohol poisoning, lapses of judgement, making a fool of yourself, praying to the porcelain god, or any other consequences of being drunk off your @$$.
