[+] Soy cheese does not work with a diseased gallbladder.
[+] Communion wafers/bread work wonders to calm nausea. (I was the altar guild person this morning, so I was consuming some of the leftovers.)
[+] Walking is good for the soul and also for working off the myriad of popsicles from the last few weeks.
[+] There is nothing better than a grilled chicken sandwich with tomatoes, onions, and pickles and a big bottle of Sundrop when eating for the first time after being nauseous for 24 hours.
[+] Minnesota mosquitoes are more vicious than black mambas and their bites are much more unpleasant.
[+] Rain is nice… for a few days. After that, one prays to move to a desert.
[+] Crocheting is the greatest stress release if walking isn’t available.
[+] Boldly-striped tabby cats are the best bed companions when one is fighting a gallstone attack.
[+] Because my body is broken and I am a sinful being, I crave those things (like cheese, pizza, bacon, grease, curry, burgers, etc) that cause me illness and pain.

This Is Wrong
Ahem…. Mother Nature?
It’s April 30th? What’s with the chance of snow flurries?
The Good, The Bad, and The Furry
The Good
-Our stay in the Cities from Sunday night to Tuesday night was wonderful.
-The Ministerial Health Assessment was very painless and actually really affirming.
-I got sushi for dinner on Monday night.
-I walked miles and miles around the U of M campus.
-I got to binge on $tarbucks.
The Bad
-I got pulled over by the Highway Patrol outside of Hutchinson for being all over the road. (Thankfully, the cop believed that I was just really tired and dizzy from low blood sugar and let me off without a ticket provided I let Jon drive the rest of the way.)
-Some church pain got dumped in our lap minutes after finishing the ministerial health stuff.
-I have WICKED hayfever that’s causing me to be headachy, congested, and nauseous.
-We’re having to borrow to cover our taxes and I have to get all the paperwork done tonight.
The Furry
-My panther has been a love since we got back. She’s beating me with her (very long) tail, putting her paws on my lap, and snuggling with me whenever I’m curled up in a ball in bed.
-Loki came by today and is looking OK.
Surprises and Spring Cleaning
I now understand why spring cleaning is so popular — you have to have something to do in early March when the weather shifts from spring (Saturday and Sunday) to fall/winter (the last few days).
I did the following today:
+ cleaned the microwave
+ cleaned out the trash
+ tossed out our massive plastic bag collection
+ cleaned the dish drainer
+ did two dishwasher loads
+ cleaned the counters
+ baked two loaves of apple bread
(Thank you Flylady!)
Before pre-marital counselling, I need to get the clothes from downstairs to upstairs with Jon’s help.
Surprises
One of my parishioners (who is a pastor’s mommy — her middle son is an ELCA pastor serving abroad) stopped by with a card for us. Inside the card was $100 and a note saying “Use this for groceries or taxes”. I’m thinking income taxes and subsidizing $20 of a new digital mouse? There will be much thank-you card writing!

Snow
For some reason, the powers-that-are have decided that since this is Minnesota, we should at least have a couple weeks of real winter, right? So we’ve got 4 inches of snow on the ground and it’s a beautiful winter wonderland… for the first time this winter. We’ve had snow before but it disappears in a matter of days. We’ve also not had a day below 0F this month — I remember 45 straight days of sub-zero temps last winter.
I think whoever controls the weather is having some confusion…
This Is Winter?
Attention Mother Nature:
This is WINTER. WINTER means the temp is below 32 for an extended period of time. It’s 45 now — a full 12 degrees above where it should be. My confirmands couldn’t have a snowball fight yesterday because the snow was melted!!!
