Medicating the Monster

Freya has this noxious hair medicine that she has to take for a few days and I’m thankful the vet gave us a syringe so I don’t have to touch it.Â? She spit most of it up on me yesterday at the vet so I was not looking forward to today.

Well… I closed off the door to the bedroom so that I wouldn’t have to get her out from under the bed and I then got the meds into the syringe.Â? (It’s this gooey brown gel that looks like beef-flavored toothpaste.)Â? I then cornered her and wrapped her in one of the catghans that my mother-in-law has made for my brats.Â? Having just her little fanged head sticking out, I discovered that if I shot the gel onto the roof of her mouth, she’d swallow it and not ooze it out the other side.Â? It took some work (gel + syringe = hard to eject) but she got all of it in.

Now if she’ll either vomit or expel the hairballs otherwise…

My Little Spitfire

Freya has a furball or something that she just can’t cough up and she’s just not her usual evil self so… she has an appointment with the vet in Shelby at 4 to be examined.

I’m hoping they don’t have to do any bloodwork… especially since she tried to kill the vet and the techs assisting last time. (3 people to hold down [at that time] a 10 lb cat — that’s my girl!)

***UPDATE***Â? Well… she behaved well at the vet until it was time to give her a shot in the leg.Â? (It took 4 of us to hold her down.Â? That’s my gremlin!)Â? She also did *NOT* want to take her hairball meds and kept spitting it on me.

Otherwise, she’s a healthy little girl — all 13.5 lbs of her.Â? Her doctor thinks she’s beautiful and a sweetheart.

5 Years!!!!

It’s hard to believe that 5 years ago I was standing in the sanctuary of the Episcopal Church in Almaden in a white dress pledging my life to my betrothed.Â? Duuude!!!

I had a bit of an eventful morning trying to corral the cats while Jon and I dealt with a bird that had gotten into the house.Â? Even though we had windows open, the bird kept flying into the glass and bouncing off.Â? Your natural selection tax dollars are at work here in Big Sky Country!!!!

For our “utterly romantic date”, we had a late lunch… at Pizza Hut.Â? OK… I know we have a supper club on the way to town and we should go out but it’s Friday and I can’t do meat, so we had a nice vegetarian lunch.Â? We also went grocery shopping and I filled out some job apps.

My present to myself: the Family Circle Easy Crocheting magazine.Â? It has a bunch of MUST MAKE patterns and I also found some awesome ones online here.

ROFL and All That Jazz

Thus saith Sara:

blessed are those who hunger, for their bowls shall be filled. now.

New kitty has a name! She is Beatitudes, aka Bea.

So far so good on the inter-feline relations. Bea is letting Queen Gracie rule, and being non-agressive. Blessed are the meek, for they shall not have their asses handed to them by big yellow kitties.

Had to laugh at that one…

In SoCal

In SoCal now with my in-laws.Â? I did Evening Prayer with my father-in-law and Jon — it felt good, especially doing it cuddled up to Jon.

I am surrounded by excellent cats.Â?Â? This is a good thing.

Memorial service is Sunday and interment is Tuesday.

Lazy Day in SoCal

After beating myself to a pulp last night (and pulling various joints out of place in my hands and legs) while walking to and from the store, I slept until noon today, got In n’ Out (which is just soooooo good for me), and went to my m-i-l’s favorite thrift shop.Â? Lots of lovely clothes — if only I was built normally and not like my dad.Â? They had some truly hideous things which my m-i-l had me try on for fun.Â? (The most interesting: the ankle-length leather skirt — I think the leather looked better on the cow.)

Now that I’ve worked the tension out of my in-laws’ whalebone tabby, I’m going to go swim.Â? Oh yes… my in-laws’ tabby patch cat decided to attack my hair as I was sitting up from petting her.Â? Tabby patches are all the same!

(Speaking of such things, I called my cat sitter in Montana for a “neurotic mommy update” and my monsters are doing fine.)

Updates

A few random things:

[+] A blessed World Communion Day to you all! May it be a reminder that our Body spans the earth and not just the borders of the USA.

[+] The wedding yesterday was tasteful — even the pranks. (If you knew the groom, you’d know that the wedding had to involve at least one prank.) The only problem: the food had a fight with my stomach and my stomach won so I spent half the night praying to the porcelain god while the food retreated upwards from the battle.

[+] Ginger Altoids are the best thing on earth next to sliced bread.

[+] Someone plowed into us in the church parking lot this morning. Thankfully, the only damage was the driver’s side mirror being knocked a couple inches off-kilter.

[+] The nursing facility where Jon’s grandfather is has a tabby patch kitty with creme brulÃ?e markings. His name is Howie and he likes me. 🙂 He remembered me from the visit last night and I played with him for a good hour today while Jon and his grandfather visited.

Off I go to play Text Twist with my in-laws!
