The Simple Woman’s Daybook: November 26, 2017

For Today… November 26, 2017

Simple Woman's Daybook

Looking out my window… dark. It was cold and rainy here today, something that is not good for those in the area who are dealing with flooding at the moment.

I am thinking… about my last bits of work for the quarter. I’m done with my PE class and I have two assignments left for Sage, and four left for Electronic Communications.

I am thankful… for not only passing my challenge test for Business English but also getting an A on it. Hermione is satisfied.

One of my favorite things… worship with my people at St. Paul’s.

I am wearing… jammies. Church clothes were a long-sleeved burgundy shirt, black slacks, and black flats. I switched out my slacks for jeans when I got home.

I am creating… documents for Sage.

I am reading… mostly Reddit these days.

I am hoping… to get as much as I can done tomorrow.

I am learning… payroll procedures in Sage.

In my kitchen… my dad will be making turkey enchiladas in the next couple of days.

In the school room… Daniel is happy to be headed back to school tomorrow after a 4-day weekend. Mama is also happy about this!

Post Script… something for geography geeks like me!

Shared Quote… my thanks to Sweatpants and Coffee for this one.

Being vulnerable...

A moment from my day… my favorite hymn for today (Christ the King Sunday).

Closing Notes: I’m hoping we sing this Trisagion during Advent…

For Today…

Simple Woman's Daybook

Looking out my window… dark. It was pretty nice today after yesterday’s windstorm and rain. I think it was probably in the 40’s today?

I am thinking… about my homework schedule this week.

I am thankful… the worst of the rain and wind held off until after the burial for Chad’s grandmother yesterday. I was getting blown around like a rag doll driving home but it isn’t as bad as it was later in the afternoon and evening.

One of my favorite things… the golden light from the sunset today.

I am wearing… burgundy long-sleeved shirt and black jeans.

I am creating… entries in my Christmas card database.

I am reading… about this week’s lesson in my Sage50 textbook.

I am hoping… my Sage instructor gives me back some points lost on my last quiz due to a computer mix-up.

I am learning… about best practices for online meetings.

In my kitchen… Dad made steak last night and the three of us (my parents and me) had a small family dinner due to the weather and Thanksgiving happening on Thursday.

In the school room… Daniel is using more and more language.

Post Script… I’m touched by the witness of Debra Tate who said a prayer for the soul of Charles Manson, her sister’s murderer after his death.

A moment from my day… The hymn sung at the burial yesterday.

For Today… November 15, 2017

Simple Woman's Daybook

Looking out my window… dark with rain pounding on the windows because of the wind. It’s positively lovely.

I am thinking… about the school shooting in northern California and the need to pass gun control laws with teeth.

I am thankful… to be ahead on classwork for a few days so I can chill after my tooth extraction today and not have to think about anything.

One of my favorite things… clean laundry, especially freshly-washed sheets.

I am wearing… jammies.

I am creating… nothing at the moment.

I am listening to… the wind and rain outside.

I am hoping… I did well on my Business English challenge test. (I think I did.)

I am learning… inventory stuff in Sage.

In my kitchen… I made meatloaf on Sunday. It will be smoothies for a few days though because of my jaw.

In the school room… Daniel continues to do well with school.

For Today…

Simple Woman's Daybook

Looking out my window… dark. It started out quite foggy this morning and it eventually burned off in the afternoon.

I am thinking… about my coffee date with a classmate to do work tomorrow.

I am thankful… for typos in the bulletin that lead to mirth during worship.

One of my favorite things… sleep.

I am wearing… jammies. Church this morning was my turquoise/black/white bokeh print dress, black cardigan, black camisole, black tights, and black flats. After that, it was a long-sleeved blue-green shirt and jeans.

I am creating… folders, quick steps, and tasks in Outlook.

I am reading listening to… various things online.

I am hoping… I get stuff done in a timely fashion this week.

I am learning… various things in Outlook.

In my kitchen… pot roast, carrots, multi-colored potatoes, and salad for dinner.

In the school room… I had a great time with Daniel on his class field trip to the pumpkin patch last week.

A moment from my day… Our anthem from this morning.

31 Days of My World As It Is Sung: Hurriedly Coming Up with Quick Takes!

7 Quick Takes

— 1 —

Tell me again about how the 50’s were awesome. Guess what? They weren’t if you were a housewife (or really a woman in general).

— 2 —

I love this. A phone number has been created for women to give to creepy men who come on to them. Seriously, I wish someone had come up with this when I was in college.

— 3 —

A reading list. Laurel Muff did a fabulous job of compiling her favorite books about saints for Blessed is She. I may be adding a few of those to my TBR pile.

— 4 —

Interesting. This is thought-provoking. (It also reminds me that I need a haircut.)

— 5 —

Claudia Fragapane. One of the things I do when I’m having insomnia is watch YouTube videos and gymnastics is a favorite. The British have a surprisingly good team and Claudia is one of them. She’s the current World Championships bronze medalist on Floor Exercise.

— 6 —

Halloween. Daniel’s school does a pajama day on Halloween (some of the kids can’t afford costumes but almost everyone has pajamas) and I honestly don’t really feel like dragging him to a couple houses on the cul-de-sac to trick-or-treat. I know… slacker mom!

— 7 —

My theme song. Maybe I should see if I could get this as my new cell phone number? 😀 (Just kidding — I also spell mine as “Jenni” not “Jenny”.)

Simple Woman's Daybook

Looking out my window… still a little cloudy but more sun than we’ve seen in a week. We had lots of rain and strong winds that knocked over planters in the yard.

I am thinking… my Electronic Communication assignment that is due tomorrow.

I am thankful… for fun at my grandma’s birthday party last night.

One of my favorite things… salami and brie baguettes from Haggen.

I am wearing… charcoal fitted tee from Old Navy and jeans. Church clothes were the tee paired with black slacks, my black cardigan, and black flats.

I am creating… reports in Sage. Whee!

I am reading… Reddit subs.

I am hoping… the Internet stays functional. It was spazzing last night and this morning.

I am learning… best practices for Skype.

In my kitchen… leftover stinky cheeses from my cousin’s wine and cheese 50th birthday party last weekend. Mmmmm… Cambozola!

In the school room… I get to go to the pumpkin patch with Daniel this week for school.

Post Script… some commentary on Patheos giving Mark Driscoll some blogging space.
