Seattle Trip 2008: The Good, the Bad, and the Moronic

We just got back from our sort-of annual pilgrimage to the Holy Land, I mean Seattle to hang with my peeps.Â? Here is the normal redux:

The Good
-getting to see my parents, evil twin, and his fiancÃ?e again
-good food most of the time
-family bonding
-getting to see my godmother again and meeting her new puppy Rosie (who might almost make me into a dog person)
-nice presents
-my mommy hemming 4 pairs of maternity pants for me (as I’m pretty useless with a sewing machine)
-the pictures we loaded onto my grandma’s digital picture frame
-my grandma’s calico cat Emily who has become nice in her old age

The Bad
-Seattle drivers — let’s just say that they can’t drive in good weather so expecting them to drive well in slush is a bit unreal
-having to shovel and crack the snow/ice on my grandmother’s driveway so all the cars could get in and out
-Seattle traffic — Seattlites are in denial about the fact that it exists
-morning sickness at month 4(!!!!!!) of my pregnancy and the laundry that accompanied it
-missing my monsters at home

The Moronic
-the backpatting that the mayor of Seattle was doing about how well he and the city handled the storm — he gave himself and the city a “B” which most people would argue should be a “D-” or “F”.
-the fact that King County has 26 snow plows and my county (with less than 1% of that population) has 5.

Hmph!!!

I called my dad last night to see if he got his present.Â? He had and he told me that my evil twin is headed to Honolulu on business today.

Have I mentioned how cold it has been here lately?

I left said evil twin a message on his cell phone saying “I hate you!Â? You suck!”Â? He responded by letting me know that he’ll be thinking of me while he drinks pina coladas on the beach.

Me?Â? Jealous?Â? Now why would one think such a thing???

Day 3 of This Thing

I missed yet another day of work so I could sleep and try to get rid of this freaking cold.Â? I have somewhat of a voice again but it’s pretty limited and I’m dealing with coughing fits every so often.Â? I’m wondering if I should have seen my doctor by now to make sure that this isn’t harming the sea monkey but I think I’m *probably* OK.

Heather of Dooce.Com is due 6 days before I am.Â? This making her site a little more interesting for me to compare what she’s going through to what I’m going through.

Effexor Withdrawl

Let me just say… Effexor withdrawl is a bitca!!!Â? (Yes, I spelled that right.Â? It’s a Buffy reference and you can thank Pisco for it.)

Effexor XR is a class C medication which means that they don’t know if it’s OK for pregnant women so… my doctor decided to take me off of it.Â? She gave me a taper pack instead of having me go off cold turkey.Â? Half my dosage was fine — it’s probably what I should have been on all along.Â? A quarter of my dosage?Â? Dizzy spells and MASSIVE panic attacks.Â? Panic attacks so bad that I had to leave work early yesterday.

I saw Dr. Awesome today and she told me to get my butt onto the Wellbutrin that she had prescribed me (it’s a class B medication which means it’s unlikely to hurt the baby).Â? She also told me to get some rest and gave me a doctor’s note to excuse me from work for the next couple days.

The other reason I haven’t blogged a lot: my parents were here this weekend.Â? This was a good thing but really tiring.Â? On Saturday, we went up to St. Mary Lake and it was pretty though rainy.Â? I get to see them once or twice a year so this was really nice.

Props

My father-in-law Ray deserves major props as he is delivering a paper at a Lutheran historical conference in New York on Monday.Â? I’m very proud of him and glad to be part of the family.

Pray

My in-laws’ white cat hasn’t been seen since Tuesday.Â? They think he got eaten by coyotes.

It’s probably past the point of return for him but… pray that he shows up.
