About Jen

Jen isn't quite sure when she lost her mind, but it is probably documented here on Meditatio. She blogs because the world needs her snark at all hours of the night... and she probably can't sleep anyway.

Bad News/Good News

The Bad News: I woke up with a headache this morning that prevented me from going to church.

The Good News:Â? I’m pretty sure I know why I’m getting these freaking headaches — it’s a side effect of Zetia, which my doctor put me on about 2 weeks ago.Â? About 2 days after starting it, I started to get hit with headaches that felt like migraines.

So… I’m stopping the Zetia until Friday when I can see her and we’ll see if the headaches go away.

Maybe Stuff Will Get Done If I Post On It!!!

I’ve had migraine/tension/neck problems this week that caused me to miss work on Tuesday in favor of spending an hour and a half in one of my doctor’s exam rooms while we waited to see if the Imitrex would work and if I would have an adverse reaction. (No dice on both counts and the stuff burned like Hades when they injected it. The follow-up shots of painkiller and anti-nausea meds in my hips were also no picnic. Oh… did I mention that I hate needles?) I’ve spent the other evenings drooling on the couch while doped on Toradol and muscle relaxers so… I now have a boatload of stuff to do. Posting about it will keep me accountable… in theory.

-print out labels for the “winter holiday of choice” cards
-write cool notes in said cards
-mail said cards
-mail the packages that need to get to Seattle and two places in southern California by the 24th (which is now a federal holiday, at least for Customs)
-figure out what I want to take to Seattle with me
-burn CD’s of Christmas/Hannukah music from the most awesomest mix diva that I got last year so I have tunes to listen to on my insane plane rides both ways
-make cookies to give to coworkers as Christmas presents
-pack for Seattle

What A Way to Start A Weekend!

I got hit with a pretty nasty headache on Thursday afternoon and while it kinda sorta responded to Aleve, it was still pretty nasty that evening.Â? When I woke up on Friday morning, I was fine until I actually stood up.Â? At that point, I was dizzy and the pain hit again.Â? (This is pretty classically migraine for me.)Â? I was also feeling light-sensitive so… I called in sick to work and went back to sleep.Â? I spent the rest of the day in dark rooms with dark-colored kitties.Â? (Jon probably could have taken me to work but I wouldn’t have lasted more than an hour under the artificial lights.)

I had rehearsal this morning for the Victorian Christmas thing that I’m in this weekend so I was happy that the headache was gone.Â? Rehearsal went OK and I got errands done afterwards.

Tomorrow is going to be chaotic.Â? I have the Christmas program for the Sunday school at one of the churches as well as the Victorian Christmas thing from 2-9 essentially.Â? I might have to skip part of the shindig after the Christmas program to get stuff done which I feel no guilt over doing.Â? (I have a limited amount of time this weekend and I can only socialize for so long.)

The Supposed War Against Christmas

I’ve been telling people around here about my Christmas card list and how I have designations for who gets Christmas cards, who gets peace cards, and who gets either one.Â? Some have raised concern about me being part of the War Against Christmas and I guess I should learn to express my opinion a little more clearly such as the following.

THERE. IS. NO. WAR. AGAINST. CHRISTMAS!!!Â? HAPPY. HOLIDAYS. REFERS. TO. THE. FACT. THAT. NOT. EVERYONE. AND. THEIR. MOTHER. CELEBRATES. CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

I mean, seriously, I don’t celebrate Hannukah so it would be a little inappropriate of my Jewish friends to send me Hannukah cards and ditto for my pagan friends sending me cards regarding Yule as I don’t celebrate that either.Â? So… I don’t send Christmas cards to my friends who actively practice another faith because December 25th is just another day to them.

And for the record, the Christmas cards I *do* send out are religious ones.Â? I celebrate Christmas and I’m into Jesus being “the reason for the season” and all that.Â? I just choose to respect that not everyone celebrates the same things that I do.
