About Jen

Jen isn't quite sure when she lost her mind, but it is probably documented here on Meditatio. She blogs because the world needs her snark at all hours of the night... and she probably can't sleep anyway.

My Night Has Just SOOOOOO Improved!!!!

Getting the podcast up has been like herding cats tonight.Â? I get stuff recorded and the files get corrupted.Â? I finally had to just save it every time I’d get a segment recorded and then import it as an MP3.Â? Oh yeah… there’s also that potential stress fracture in my right foot so I can’t exactly pace the floor.
I finally opened my email after two hours of this (for a 20 minute podcast!!!!!) and found that…

CHARLENE ANN BAUMBICH COMMENTED ON ONE OF MY ENTRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Â? *squees for 5 minutes straight while hopping up and down on my good foot*

That just soooo redeemed my night let alone my day!!!!
Thank you so much Charlene!!!!

All I Want For Christmas Is Some Sheep!

OK… a few people have asked what I want for Christmas. My answer: I’d really like a lamb or sheep donated to the Heifer Project. They’re an awesome organization and I’d love it if people would support them in my honor this year at Christmas.

My Heifer.Org registry is here. Choose “Sheep” and donate as many shares of a sheep as you want. Just please send me an e-card so that I know what’s been done, OK?Â? The address is jen-at-grace-filled-dot-net.

The Ups and Downs of Being Jen Right Now

Up: I got to judge a speech meet on Saturday.
Down: I was doing it on 5 hours of sleep (at best).
Up: I’m getting all my Christmas cards and stuff mailed tomorrow (well… except for one thing that I have to finish.)
Down: My freaking ankle keeps re-injuring and it’s at the point where I’m in pain in the evenings.
Up: I get to judge the meet being held next weekend.
Down: I have the beginnings of a sinus infection.Â? (Jen has a sinus infection?Â? Isn’t that like saying “the sky is blue”.)
Up: Singing along to the Messiah on Napster.
Up: It’s Advent which is my favorite season in the church other than Lent.Â? (I know… I’m strange.)

A Book Suggestion for Mitford Fans

If you like Jan Karon’s books about Mitford and Father Tim, you need to read the Dearest Dorothy books.? I was introduced to them last year when I got them out of a box of books that Mom had brought me 6 months earlier and I had to order #4 when it came out.? I just got #5 today and devoured it.? I’m re-reading it of course but seriously… it’s a good series.

I’m also really impressed with how accurately Charlene Ann Baumbich (the author) portrays small town life.Â? I can actually see everything happening having lived in a town of comparable size and she even portrayed the thoughts of the pastor’s wife accurately.

So put these on your wishlist for Christmas! They are soooo worth reading!!!

They Get A Cookie

On Countdown, Keith Olbermann told us about the decision of NBC and MSNBC to refer to the conflict in Iraq as a “civil war”.

And lo didst the heavens open and a voice wast heard to be saying “DUHHHHHH!!!!!!!”

(Apparently, the current administration hasn’t gotten a clue yet.)
