My Complete Opposite and Guilty Pleasure

I became acquainted with BlagHag last year during Blogathon 2009 when she was blogging for the Secular Student Alliance (the atheist answer to Intervarsity). She’s 180 degrees from me in some ways like being atheist and obsessed with sexuality; but she has the same snark level that I do (or would if I posted more often).

I don’t troll her comments and try to witness to her because that kind of breaks blogging etiquette rules. (More specifically the “thou shalt not actively oppose someone’s viewpoint in their comments and be annoying” rule.) Instead, I actually kind of enjoy seeing the flip side of whatever I might think.

She’s NSFW but she’s worth checking out if you’re into seeing the opposite opinion. Besides, she’s entertaining if nothing else.

Prayers Requested for a Friend

My friend Jenn (Cho) Vasco lost her husband to heart disease/failure yesterday. She has a 5 year old son and is now a widow at age 32. Please lift up prayers for her, her son Johnny, and for her family and in-laws as they deal with this tragic time.

Sanity… So Highly Overrated

An update on the events of the last few days…

[+] On my way back to the Snuggery yesterday, someone was turning into traffic and hit me. The main damage is my wheel well and the car body surrounding it — I managed to get the car home… and then found out that it was not driveable. Thank God for insurance companies and rental cars. Hopefully insurance will fix the damage.

[+] Jon has two funerals next week — one of which came up right after he found out about the car. It will take care of half of our deductible…

[+] Still job-hunting and hoping something comes of it. It’s seriously wrecking my self-esteem that I can’t find a job.

[+] I saw all the stuff on the news about the “touchdown Jesus” statue getting hit by lightning and burning. An even more irritating thought: THEY’RE REBUILDING IT!!!!!! That money could seriously be better used for something like feeding the hungry, helping disaster victims in third world countries, or well… pretty much ANYTHING else in Acts 2.

[+] For the most part, Lakers’ fans actually managed to behave themselves on Thursday when the Lakers won the NBA title. It’s unfortunate that a few fans decided to light things on fire but they were thankfully the minority. All the LA news stations were showing live pics of the area surrounding Staples Center and the LAPD was out in riot gear in anticipation of looting and arson and such.

[+] Tomorrow, I’ll be in San Diego with Jon where he’ll be supply-preaching. It’s kind of cool because I’ll almost be able to claim that I’ve driven every mile of I-15 between Mexico and the Canadian border.

Dr. Michael Newdow, Will You Please Go Now!

CNN.Com: Court clears reciting of Pledge of Allegiance at Western schools.

I wrote an open letter to Dr. Michael Newdow 6 years ago which earned me the ire of the person at the About.Com Guide to Atheism. (Why yes, I’m incredibly proud of it. Why do you ask?)

The Supreme Court basically laughed at him so he went back and had other parents file another lawsuit and AGAIN, he was turned down by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. I have a feeling that he’ll try and take it to the Supreme Court AGAIN who will hopefully laugh in his face AGAIN.

For the last time, the Pledge of Allegiance is NOT A PRAYER. You are pledging your allegiance TO the flag. God is not the recepient of this — the flag is. It is also NOT COMPULSORY as was decided in the 1943 Supreme Court decision West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette.

So… would Dr. Michael Newdow, would you please go now?!?!?!?!?!?
