Plastic Fantastic Cat Cave

I’ve been keeping the tsunami afghan (so named because a portion of what I sold it for is going to help tsunami victims) in a plastic blanket bag to keep the cat fur off it. I got the check from the buyer last week and I was prepping the box to ship it today. I had taken the blanket out of the bag, put it in the box, put another box on top to keep a certain unnamed black cat (who we’ll call “EDDA”) from sleeping on it and accidentally getting shipped to Tennessee, and was in my study working on the inserts and packing label when I heard Jon come in and bust up laughing. I walked out and saw that the plastic blanket bag was now a cat cave and my little Viking goddess (who we’ll call “FREYA”) was in it surveying her domain from her new cave.

A New Addition to the Family

Jon and I have decided that we want to get a puppy. I know this is totally going to shock most of you who know I’m a cat person, but I really love Jack Russell terriers and there’s a parishioner who raises them.

We’re going to call him Eddie and we’re going to pick him up from them next weekend.

The kitties will have someone new to play with!

APRIL FOOLS!

Room at this Inn

There’s a stray cat that has been coming around on and off this fall. I think it might be the kitten that stalked me in July that’s grown up. Anyway, we pondered the thought of finding a home for him in November but we didn’t get to before we left for Washington and he stopped coming by.

Today as we were preparing to leave for Watertown to do errands, he appeared at the door. Jon brought him food and water, but he was shivering as he ate and we didn’t feel right about leaving him outside, so we put him in the basement with a litterbox and some food and water. When we got home, I gave him a sponge bath and got some of the grime off of him. I think we’ll have to give him a full-on bath tomorrow — he’s just so filthy. He is a complete love though — EVERY time one of us goes down there, he loves us up and mews at us for attention. We’d bring him upstairs with the others (or at least let Edda go downstairs and keep him company because she is a love as well) but…
a.) he might have some kitty diseases that ours aren’t vaccinated against
b.) the other 4 are not amused with us for having him down there in the first place
c.) we can’t keep him

Hopefully, we’ll find him a home — either his real one or with someone who needs a kitty…

Cat Licenses

I should explain… for the last 4 years, my dad has made “pictures” for Mom to cheer her up when she’s been travelling. Originally, it was of her evil cat Bessie. Bessie passed away in February and so Mom’s new kittens (Homer and Jethro) and their sissy Maine Coon cat Trail Kitty are now the subject of the pictures.

I guess the cats got licensed by the City of San Jose recently?

My Election Day Plans

Currently, I am doing what every proud American should be doing:

crocheting a purse and avoiding the media by watching “The Aristocats” with my 4 fuzzy children

I have no desire to watch the hype tonight over who won — I’m wanting it to be a (hopefully pleasant) surprise when I wake up tomorrow morning.

Update: My curiousity got the better of me so I’m watching to see how the South Dakota Senate race is doing. Daschle had better win, darn it!
