The dressing came off of one of my sutures yesterday so I actually got to see my incision. It basically just looks like a cut with 5 staples in it. I pondered the thought of taking a picture but decided against it because it would likely gross people out.
The suture in my navel is being really obnoxious so I’m seeing my P.A. about it in an hour. I figure that he’d probably *like* me to see him before I rip the sucker out myself.
I’m thinking that the idea to pierce my navel someday is not a good one?
**UPDATE**
They took my staples out. It was less painful than I thought it would be and I now have “steri strips” on my incisions. The adhesive is still fairly sticky so I’ll probably have blue fibers attached from my shirt. I got to see my navel for the first time in about a week and it’s pretty freaky looking. I’m not sure I’m going to have a career as a swimsuit or lingerie model but I can live with that.

I also have a scar in my belly button from a surgery (and one just down & to the left a bit). I thought my career as a swimsuit model would never get back on track after this…I think maybe we need to start our own company. Grrls with Scars or something.
🙂 I’m not all that willing to show off my midsection, so the Grrls with Scars thing will probably not happen with me. Still… it is a great idea. There are swimsuit makers who make stuff for women who have had mastectomies… why not something for those of us who have undergone stomach surgery?
