OK… the answers to the sexuality questions at CWA were…
1.) The action urges this church to â??œconcentrate on finding ways to live together faithfully in the midst of disagreements, recognizing the God-given mission and communion we share as members of the body of Christ.â???
2.) The action asks that this church â??œcontinue to respect the guidance of the 1993 statement of the Conference of Bishops,â??? which found no basis for establishing an official ceremony for the blessing of a homosexual relationship. The assembly reiterated this churchâ????s welcome to gay and lesbian people and its trust in pastors and congregations as they â??œdiscern ways to provide faithful pastoral care for all to whom they minister.â???
3.) The proposal on ordaining practicing GLBT people “was defeated 490-503. This means there is no change in this churchâ????s expectations of rostered leaders.” It needed a 2/3 majority to pass because it would have changed the church’s by-laws.
Those are kind of weak statements and solutions (except for the last one). Ummm guys… could you please decide whether or not homosexuality IS or IS NOT a sin? We’re kind of being Laodicean with this.
