Radio Pedge Time

Quoth my local NPR station:

“This is not like public TV where we do it 24 hours a day like the Home Shopping Channel!”

There’s a reason why I pledge to my public radio station (other than the fact that they offer student rates): their pledge weekends are almost as entertaining than the shows that they are interrupting. My PBS station doesn’t even do that. (We’ll pledge for PBS when Jon is ordained.)

About Jen

Jen isn't quite sure when she lost her mind, but it is probably documented here on Meditatio. She blogs because the world needs her snark at all hours of the night... and she probably can't sleep anyway.

  1. Amen! Preach it sister.

I cannot STAND the pledge weeks. They get longer and more useless with each rendition. At least here in D.C., they roll out ever new-age guru with a nack for public speaking and “system” — even when its time for my daughter to be watching the TeleTubbies. Is nothing sacred?

Yes, I am more likely to give to my public radio endeavours as well. At least they provide compelling content.

Instead, the same boring, faces with their drippy please and lame whiney pleas every six months, all conspiring to reminding me to keep the “clicker” handy.

I mean, at least bring in a professional, like a big fat Greek Grandmother lay down the guilt trip. Now that I think of it, all they have to do is bring in my (Greek) mom, and Goldie, the Jewish mom/grandmother who used to live across the street hit me with the plight of their ancestors — they’d have my cash in hand in a heartbeat.

In fact, I just thinking about it, I’d better call both of them and apologize for being such a bad son/neighbor.
