Triskaidekaphobic Friday Five

1. Are you superstitious?
Nope.

2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition?
Gluing a mirror back together

3. Believer or not, what’s your favorite superstition?
The one about the black cat being bad luck if it crosses your path. Of course I don’t believe it — I have a beautiful black princessish cat.

4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual?
I don’t necessarily believe in luck. (Why should I? I’m Irish. Luck is in my bloodstream — I just know it’s there, not something that requires belief.) I have a favorite number, but I don’t know if it brings me luck necessarily.

5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?
Not really. I’m a Taurus, but even that doesn’t fit me because I should logically be a Gemini (because I’m a twin) and I’m not.

Jen isn't quite sure when she lost her mind, but it is probably documented here on Meditatio. She blogs because the world needs her snark at all hours of the night... and she probably can't sleep anyway.

    1. Are you superstitious?
    Not in the least.

    2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition?
Tying red ribbons around plant branches, and wearing a red slip when pregnant – both for protection against an eclipse.

    3. Believer or not, what’s your favorite superstition?
Ummm, since I tend to point and laugh at all of them, I can’t think of a specific one – I guess this one, although I’m not sure if it’s superstition or just old wives’ tale: If you go outside with wet hair, you’ll have horrible menstrual cramps.

    4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual?
No. I believe in divine providence. That God is involved in my life on a daily and personal level. I have a favorite number (47), but don’t count it as particularly lucky or unlucky.

    5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?
Not even a little. One reason is that I’ve seen too many horoscope pages where one person says “this will happen” and another one for the same zodiac sign on the same day will say “exact opposite will happen.” Also because the constellations are completely out of sync with what times each zodiac sign is overhead. Finally, I put my faith in the Creator of the universe. That being said, why would I put my trust in one of His creations?

My mom is generally an intelligent woman, but sometimes she just amazes me with her . . . umm, interesting beliefs. I’m still not sure if she truly believes this or not, and I’m 39.
