How I Am After The Events of This Week

Several people have asked me how I’m doing. The best answer I can give is this:

I want to curl up in bed with the covers over my head and not crawl out until we head to California in May.

Sable is totalled. We’re getting about $900 for her when all is said and done and that will have to be a down payment on a used car — we can’t afford a new one on just Jon’s salary. Jon’s shoulder is better though still a little sore. We’re supposed to go and clean the rest of our personal items out of her today so they can tow her away tomorrow. I haven’t decided whether or not I want to go with Jon to do that — I loved Sable and it will just reinforce that we are now carless even more.

So… could y’all lift up some prayers that the used car can materialize?

  1. Well…used cars are a better value than new cars anyway… Click ‘n’ Clack say so!

Seriously, I pray that you’ll be able to find a wonderful car to be Sable’s successor, whether it be in California or Minnesota (with amazing rust protection).

  2. You might be better off looking at a new car. The interest rates are still very low for financing a NEW one – higher for financing a USED one. Amazing. On the other hand there is a glut of good used cars because the financing on new ones is so good. Either way – it probably is one of the better times for needing to purchase a car.
Some of your car expenses are deductable too. Plus Jon and you really need a reliable car. Ask around your congregations for advice. Someone likely will cut the “new young pastor and his wife” a good deal.
