Saturday was crazy in that we had to get our prescriptions straightened out, do bulletins (which we hadn’t had a chance to do all week), mow the lawn, and get other things done. I mowed both lawns (and have continued to be stuffed up thanks to my lovely grass pollen allergy) and tried to do household things to help out Jon.
Sunday morning, we had Rally Day at the second church and it was fun. I loved seeing the adults doing the hand motions to “This Little Light of Mine” — it was so cool!!!!! (I also felt less self-conscious.) There was a lasagna dinner afterwards and I ate waaaaaay too much, resulting in me having to take a “lasagna nap” (as one of our members put it) that afternoon. After I’d woken up and packed, we headed to Watertown for our free hotel stay (we won this about 6 months ago at a farm fair). We had a nice dinner and chilled all evening. I went for a swim and took advantage of the hot tub before showering and curling up on the bed to watch TV. I watched most of “WifeSwap” and I think I would have killed both contestants within a week of having to live with them. (One was an obsessive-compulsively clean housewife and the other lived in a cluttered house with pets running around, no rules, and noise everywhere.) After that, I watched some Law & Order: SVU and some of the Brady Bunch stuff they were running on Nick@Nite. Jon came in and fell asleep snoring, so I moved out to the couch in our suite and fell asleep.
This morning, we had a leisurely breakfast and I hit the treadmill at the hotel gym to do some walking. It reminded me of why I hate treadmills — I need scenery. Watching CNN and “Dora the Explorer” just wasn’t the same as being out in Creation wandering and rejoicing in the beauty of it. After I got done, we packed up and did errands (banking, grocery shopping, getting household stuff at Evil Behemouth Company Who Exploits Their Workers But Is Cheap, getting the car washed) before grabbing lunch at Arby’s and heading home.
I’ll be going out on a walk tonight and then either making lasagna or some more minestrone soup. (I need to do one or the other to make room in my fridge — probably soup.)
Yeah that “WifeSwap” show last night was nuts. Both of those women need some serious help. I almost thought is was going to be a WifeSwap/CSI/Law&Order combo show.
I’m trying to think who scared me more: Caprice or Bambi. Caprice was a cleaning Nazi but Bambi just didn’t seem to want to have anything to do with housework or anything that didn’t involve fun with the kids. Living in a house with no rules would freak me out, probably more than living in a house where everything has to be methodically placed.
I would have to say Bambi. During the couples meeting at the end she just flipped out and the fact that when you have all that chaos it is harder to tighten up and settle down then it will be for Caprice to loosen up and chill out. Both of the women have some serious issues but I think the “wounds” run deeper with Bambi.
