Ick

I’m headed out to get a TB test in a few minutes.

Good thing: it kills one of the hoops I have to jump through to substitute teach.
Bad thing: it involves sticking a needle in my arm and it hurts like H-E-double hockey sticks!

At least the fingerprinting on Friday won’t hurt as much…

Portsmouth Tea

I tend to not be all that much of a tea person (my husband Jon however is another story) but I do think that any tea company with a tea blog is REALLY cool. I checked out their tea selection and the teas I’d probably be ordering if it was my choice are the Masala Chai (I’m a fan of South Asian food and got hooked on chai after a friend who was a missionary in India made it for me) and the Apricot Peach Fruit tea.

Their teaware is also lovely.

This Would Have To Happen Today…

I am exceedingly crabby because:

[+] The lenses of both taillights got knocked out by a barbed wire fence. We just replaced one last week… Thank God for VLVWorld.
[+] I can’t find the bleeping dishsoap and I *KNOW* I bought some and I need to do dishes.
[+] I can’t find the bleeping Clorox wipes and I need to clean the kitchen.
[+] I need to go in for a TB test this week and it’s looking like it will have to be postponed until next week because I don’t know of anyone who is going into town either tomorrow or Wednesday. I can’t just go do it because I live 25 miles from civilization and Jon has the car.

I will start screaming now…

My Buddies

There are two little girls at one of Jon’s churches who have become my buddies. Ka is 6 and Ke is 4. Tonight at the American Legion Pancake Supper, they both “helped” me crochet. They both held my yarn bag and I guided Ke through a couple stitches. Ka was very interested in hearing about my Edda Puss and I think when she and I bake cookies for the Christmas Open House, I will have to introduce her to the pantherish one. (I’m going to make some “catmas cookies” for Ke to decorate.) She also introduced me to the Brownies who were there (who are her classmates). Believe me, it made my heart sing to hear her say, “this is MY pastor’s wife.” They draw us pictures every week and Jon has used them in the children’s sermon.

As we were leaving, two more kids (La and Ca) yelled “BYE PASTOR! BYE JEN!!!!!!” We shook their hands on the way out and I kind of wish I’d given both of them hugs.

Gotta Love Bureaucracy

I presented all my paperwork for my Montana license 10 days ago (2nd shot since we’d driven to Cut Bank a couple days before to try) and the examiner (who does her job a little too gleefully) told me I’d have to take all the Montana tests because I didn’t have the hard copy of my Minnesota license. (Thank you Minnesota for refusing to send licenses out of state and for being so bleeping slow in sending ID documents.) So… I took the written test and failed it. (I’m sorry — there were no laws about why you shouldn’t hit cattle in the road in Minnesota or Ohio where I previously had passed tests.) And lo, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth and whining on my part because after having my license for a month, I suddenly had no license again. When you live 25 miles in between two towns, this is a really sucky thing.

We drove to Cut Bank today and after studying last night, I took the written test and passed. I then took the road test and passed by the skin of my teeth. (As I said, the examiner does her job a little too gleefully and none of the testers in Minnesota or Ohio were that detail-oriented.) So… I FINALLY HAVE A REAL BONAFIDE DRIVER’S LICENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the way home, we stopped by the post office to get the mail and there was a letter from the DPS in Minnesota. Apparently, they rejected my license application because I had a MN state ID card (which I found this morning while cleaning my purse) and you can’t have both the card and the license. So… I wouldn’t have had the MN license to begin with and I’m probably just going to send my ID card to St. Paul and tell them to use it for target practice.
