About Jen

Jen isn't quite sure when she lost her mind, but it is probably documented here on Meditatio. She blogs because the world needs her snark at all hours of the night... and she probably can't sleep anyway.

-spending time with my incredibly awesome Aunt Jean
-the drive through Glacier National Park on the way
-good food during the trip
-my aunt’s ragdoll cat Tammy (the best cat in the world)
-finding that I do somewhat fit into my family

The Bad
-the 100+ degree heat while I was there (which seems to have come back with me)
-the mosquitoes!!!!!!!!
-the yellowjackets I had to avoid

The Fowl
-getting to pet my aunt’s ornamental chickens
-getting to collect the eggs every day
-watching my Aunt Jean interact with her birds.

Blogathon: Being One of Jen’s Cheerleaders

I know that money is pretty tight for some of you right now and I have an offer for those who want to give but can’t:

I need cheerleaders! As one of “Jen’s cheerleaders”, you promote my Blogathon on your site. I’ll send you an awesome button that says “I am Jen’s cheerleader!” and all you need to do is link it to my Blogathon site. On the day of the Blogathon, you do an entry on your blog about what I’m doing and show your super awesome button.

Leave me a comment if you’re interested!

How Hot Is It?

It’s so hot that…

-Weatherbug turned red in my sidebar.
-The weather widget on Firefox showed a thermometer on fire.
-My fan shut itself off from overheating.
-My laptop is shutting itself off randomly.
-The cats are looking like furry deflated balloons.
-I’m tempted to eat a tub and a half of ice cream because it’s something cold. (Probably good that I don’t keep ice cream in the house.)
-My body has a wall of water cascading down it.
-You could likely bake bread outside if you left it for long enough.

I’m soooooo looking forward to things cooling down 20-30 degrees tomorrow!

Heat Wave

Did you know that Weatherbug turns red when the temperature breaks 100 F? Yep… found that out when I finally dragged myself out of bed today. It’s 102 F at least in Cut Bank where the temp is being recorded. Where I am, they’re estimating between 102 and 106. The nice green hills are now YELLOW and I think the fire danger exists if you even look at someone funny. At least it is indeed a dry heat — 8% humidity and it should drop to 85 F tomorrow which is a bit more bearable, especially when one’s study is on the third floor.

And I guess I should be grateful that it’s not 116 F like they’re predicting for Vegas.

It’s That Time of Year Again!

Yep! It’s Blogathon time!!! I’ll be doing the Blogathon here on July 28th as well as being part of the group doing Potterthon and monitoring. I’ll be raising funds on my blog for International Justice Mission, an organization that works in third world countries to combat slavery, sexual exploitation, police brutality, and other miscarriages of justice.

If you want to sponsor me, click here. I’ll have a footer at the bottom of every blog post for the next few weeks with the same link, so feel free to think it over if you need to.

An incentive in case you need one: if I raise at least $500, I will show up at both services on August 5th in full make-up, with my nails done, and wearing a nice dress. For those who know me in real life, that is a pretty rare site and something I haven’t done (at least in full) since my wedding day 5 years ago. So… if you want to see me dressed up pretty that Sunday morning, sponsor me!

Independence Day

Despite the idiocy of our executive branch this week in commuting the Scooter Libby sentence and our asnine vice-president assuming that he’s above the law and part of his own special branch of government, try and have a decent 4th of July.

And remember: vote intelligently — don’t let our country make mistakes like voting these jerks into office again.
