Allergies and Diets

I went to see my allergist this morning and all my asthma tests were exceptionally good (at least those that they can effect a change in). My peak flow was at 113% — not bad at all.

We stopped at Evil Company Bent on Global Domination for catfood and litter as well as some cleaning supplies and then headed to Wendy’s to grab lunch. When I tried eating my hamburger, I found that I couldn’t eat the whole thing as well as the fries. Considering how hungry I was, this was kind of astonishing… except that I’d been cutting my food intake down for the last few weeks. It worked for my mother-in-law and I was amazed at how well it was working for me.

Right now, I’m rejoicing over having my blog back. (My MySQL server went down last night.)

How I’ve Been Feeling Lately Faithwise

When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Then the mountain rose before me
By the deep well of desire
From the fountain of forgiveness
Beyond the ice and fire

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We’ll rise above these earthly cares

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me
Please remember me

There’s Something About Jen

For those who are wondering why posts have been sparse, this is my week:

Wednesday: clean house and go to Holy Commotion practice after council

Thursday: get money for bills from treasurers, clean house, and do dinner with local pastor and family

Friday: see allergist and get yelled at about cats. Clean house and work on bulletins for this weekend.

Saturday: Work on bulletins for this weekend.

Sunday: 125th anniversary of one of Jon’s churches. About 9 hours of church when all is said and done. (This includes worship, meal, and the program afterwards.)

Oh yes… I’m also trying to get a personal site up for myself in the meantime as well as put something up for the churches. Wish me luck!

Flattened And Feeling Really Crabby

I’ve gotten a few emails and IM’s about the fact that I haven’t written anything about Ronald Reagan. My reasons:

1.) I have had maybe 10-12 hours of sleep over three nights due to a sick cat (who is doing much better), intense head/neck/back pain (stress and heat — it’s 79F outside but it was 85F in the house before I turned the A/C on when I got home), and other things. Whatever I write would be done in a b*tchy tone and I’d rather save the nasty comments for a time when I can deal with them more effectively than IP banning the commenters.

2.) I have absolutely nothing positive to say about him. He started the financial mishandling of California’s budget, cut education, tripled the deficit with his idiotic policies and tax cuts, and really did nothing of merit in my eyes. (The Cold War stopped because the Soviet Union ran out of money, not because he was a great diplomat as most revisionists would tell you.) I’ll maybe write something when I can actually find something positive he did. (Comments on this entry have been disabled because I don’t feel like dealing with people disputing what I have to say in this paragraph. If you flame me on your page and say that I’m saying this because Reagan was a Republican, I will see to it that you are whipped and dragged to your death throught the streets with people singing comic songs on your grave. Capeche?)

3.) I have had an insane few weeks and barely have the energy to type. Thus, I will go curl up in a corner until the room is cool enough for me to fall asleep. Buh bye.

Death Day

Jon’s grandmother passed away at 2:00 this morning. Keep Jon and his family in prayer, especially since his dad and aunt are both pastors and have to drop everything to deal with this. (This of course would have to happen during Confirmation weekend for them.) It was sad but it’s been coming for awhile. We’re not flying to LA for the funeral because it’s just going to be a simple graveside service and we also saw her two weeks ago and said our good-byes then.

Oh yeah… Ronald Reagan also died today.

Freya

Freya was bitten by something on her nose and I discovered last weekend that she had a good bump developing. We took her to her vet who put her on antibiotics and told us to put hot cotton on it a few times a day.

Well… yesterday evening, she got really quiet and I made the decision to take her to the vet around 11:45 pm. The vet (not the one we like) gave her a shot to lower her fever and told us to bring her back this morning for bloodwork. Her fever was higher this morning and they’re a bit puzzled by this. (Gee… could it maybe be because IT’S A HEAD WOUND?!?!?!?!? You’d think I hadn’t had this experience with one of my parents’ cats while growing up or something.) She almost took the tech’s arm off when they tried (emphasis on “tried”) to take blood for a CBC and various tests. She’s there now under observation and God willing, they’ll be able to do something to treat her.

*crosses fingers* Toss some prayer in her direction, will ya?
