The Mine Disaster (Before I Embark on a Media Fast)

I was channel-surfing last night about 1:00 MST when I stumbled upon CNN telling that they were wrong and 12 of the 13 miners had died.Â? Apparently, some idiot had called the church where the families and governor and VIP’s were and had said that they had survived, so… the families get euphoric news and are then told the truth.

To the head of the Sago Mining Company: I really hope this situation forces you to step down or the board of directors fires your @$$.Â? You *knew* the mine was dangerous and you still kept it open.Â? I pray that criminal charges are filed against you personally.
To the absolute moron who called with the incorrect news and got people’s hopes up: If you’re part of Sago, I hope you’re fired and your pension is used for counselling for the people who you just seriously wounded.Â? I hope that you are never hired by anyone for PR again and that your name is associated with the word “incompetence”.

To the idiots in the media who were trying to “get the story” last night and shoved your microphone in the faces of seriously grieving people: You guys are morons and obviously have no shred of compassion.Â? I hope that the next time your family members are tragically killed, someone shoves a microphone in your face so that you know how it feels.

I posted prayers on blogs4God last night. Go read them and pray for the families and for the community.

With this, I am now embarking on a media fast of all things mine-related.

From My Napster…

A song that’s been in my head lately…

I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love
Along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
I wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn’t see how every sign pointed straight to You

That every long lost dream
Led me to where You are
Others who broke my heart
They were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way
Into Your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to You

I think about the years I spent just passing through
I’d like to have them back again
And give them all to You
But You just smile and take my hand
You’ve been there and You understand
It’s all part of a grander plan
That is coming true

That every long lost dream
Led me to where You are
Others who broke my heart
They were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way
Into You loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to You
Now I keep rolling on into You loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to You
