OK… skipping the postgame show. This is my rundown.
The Good
–the Cirque de Soleil performers during the pre-game.
-the moment of silence for the tornado victims
-Billy Joel doing the National Anthem tastefully
-Marlee Matlin doing the National Anthem in ASL
-the touchdown scored off the kickoff
-Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith hugging at the end of the game (good sportsmanship)
The Bad
-the commercials were interrupted by obnoxious interludes of football
-the rain on the field made it harder to play
-having to discipline the panther for scratching at the carpet (she’s now soaking wet from the “ENFORCEMENT” bottle as she was a repeat offender)
The Decent Commercials
-Ford F series w/ moving parts
-Bud Light: rock, paper, scissors
-Fed-Ex: moon office
-Bud Light: wedding ceremony
-Snickers kiss
-Bud Light: English class
-Careerbuilder: all 3 of their jungle office scenes
–BeatYourRisk.Com
-Coca Cola: Black History Month
-ETrade: bank hold-up
-Taco Bell lions
The Awful Commercials
–Blockbuster: hello? animal cruelty much?
-SalesGenie.Com: just plain stupid
-KFed: couldn’t Nationwide get someone besides the Fed-Ex?
Best Commercial Overall
Taco Bell Lions
The commercials kind of grossed me out this year. You know that I can’t stand people who are “PC” to the point that they feel victimized/threatened/offended at EVERYTHING, but I really was uncomfortable by what I sensed to be some homophobic/racist undertones in some of the commercials. What, people think it’s “macho” and a “good old American football watching guy thing” to make fun of immigrants, etc.?
I didn’t watch much, but I laughed at the Sprint Broadband Mobile “connectile dysfunction” commercial.
“the commercials were interrupted by obnoxious interludes of football”
ROFLOL! Exactly!! I for one can’t stand football! It’s like a religion in the US. Why is it that the US is the only country in the world that isn’t into soccer. Not that I’m into soccer, it’s just a reflection on our self centeredness! Now hockey…that’s a different story. 🙂 digress…
Uhm…I meant to say at the end “but I digress…”
