What Country Is This?
I received an email today about a demonstration yesterday. In it, 16 people were arrested for protesting the leader of the country. Two of those arrested had bogus charges levied against them.
- A cleric was charged with “assaulting a police officer” because the officer claimed that the cleric touched him. In reality, the cleric was pushed to the ground from behind while holding up his hands and saying “I am not resisting.”
- A veteran was charged with resisting arrest after falling down while trying to get into the paddy wagon that would take him to jail.
All in all, 16 people were arrested for “civil disobedience”. Want to guess which country this was in? Click on the (more…) for the answer.
Football This Weekend
Minnesota SLAUGHTERED Temple.
Washington actually WON!
MSU Bobcats got CLAWED TO BITS by UC Davis.
Best of all… Michigan FLATTENED Notre Dame.
Why is the last one best of all?Â? On “Countdown” on Friday night, they showed a guy getting a full body wax in order to get tickets to the game.Â? He was a ND fan in the midst of Wolverines.Â? I’m not sure which was worse: the body waxing or the loss by his team.
Since I Know Y’All Don’t Want to Hear Me Whine…
I’ll just say that it’s 5 expletives cold today and leave it at that.Â? 🙂
It’s also Pisco’s birthday so go tell him that he’s now both a geezer and too young to lie about his age.Â? 😛

Friday Night TV and Other Things
“Men In Trees” was lovely — the Anne Heche character tells her philandering ex to kiss off after he claims that she wouldn’t sleep with another man… and everyone in the bar claims to have slept with her. (It was cute and no, she didn’t sleep with any of them.) And duuuuuude… the raccoon has adopted her!!!!!!!!!
On “Countdown”, Keith replayed his “special comment” from Monday night. It was very awe-filled. Read it here.
To Pisco: thanks for coming on and chatting and making me laugh and all that. You totally and completely rock our (Jon’s and my) world.
To God: thanks for the rain and the wind. Just hold off the snow until after the burial tomorrow, OK?
To the Biaxin: could we stop with the icky taste in the mouth and the making me feel rundown? I kind of have a life I need to live, m’kay?
The podcast is being put together and will probably debut around 10/15.
That is all.
I Guess We’re Skipping Fall?
The weather yesterday was lovely — 60 was the high around here.Â? Today, I think it got up to 45 and was really rainy and windy.Â? (I slept soooooo well because it was just “stay in bed” weather.)Â? Saturday: THEY’RE FORCASTING SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!Â? (I probably wouldn’t care except that Jon has a funeral and going out in the graveyard when it’s that cold is just miserable.)
Next week, it’s supposed to be 55-60 during the day with highs of 35(!!!!!) at night.Â? I guess the Almighty is compensating for it being so bloody hot this summer and harvest being a month early!
Sportsmanship
I went to the junior high basketball game tonight.Â? It turns out that the town I used to work in was playing the team which has some of my church kids on it so… cheering was *interesting*.Â? (On a happier note, I got hugs from the people I worked with who were at the game, including my former co-receptionist.)
Something that really impressed me: the girls were just very good about their sportsmanship.Â? People *did* get elbowed and tripped and all that but they’d help each other up even if the person was from the other team.Â? That was just wonderful to see because I remember seeing almost bloodshed at games in Minnesota.Â? I was quite proud of them, especially my church kids who behaved themselves so well on the court.
