Before I Forget…

Beannachtai ni fheile Padraig agat!

and

Happy 60th birthday Daddy!

I spent my day cleaning, going for a nice walk (it was 50F today and lovely), and teaching Confirmation. We played the “review game” which is kind of like Taboo. The kids had to describe the term for the others to guess. It was a fun class, especially since the snack that the kids brought was chips and salsa.

Jon’s round-robin gig was lovely tonight. The people were actually friendly and they had a coffee time afterward. It was a small crowd, but there were a number of kids there and they all sang even if most people were sitting in the back. (Lutherans have a complex about not sitting in the front. It’s the biggest joke because the latecomers go to the balcony to avoid being in the front.) Unlike last week, we only had heavy rain instead of blowing snow and it was actually a pleasant drive to and from the church.

Blogroll

I just updated the blogroll. I haven’t put everything through WP yet because it was bulleting things and it’s also a large job re-loading all my links. If you aren’t on it and should be (i.e. you were on previous ones, you link me, there is some compelling reason), leave a note in the comments and let me know.

Back In Business

As you can see, I’m now a WordPress site. All glory and thanks to Krissy for getting my b2 schtuff uploaded last night after I tried twice and failed miserably. The gray and stuff will be gone once I can get a new layout together.

There will be some passworded entries for those times when I want to vent but don’t want all of cyberspace to read it. If you want the password, just email me ( jen [at] peacefulwaters [dot] org) and if I like you, I’ll give it to you.

Site Changes

I’m playing around with WordPress right now (and have been for the last few days). I’m thinking of moving my site and changing its name and I wanted to know what other people think. It would still be on peacefulwaters.org but probably a different subdomain or something.

If you want to add your input, leave me a comment and answer the following questions:

1.) Should I move the site and change the name?
2.) If yes, what should the new name be?

I’ve got some names in mind but I’d love to hear from people on this.

You Know Your Cat Is Like A Child To You…

when you head out in blowing snow with zero visibility to get her sutures fixed after she has chewed them out.

Being the little gremlin she is, Freya chewed on her stitches and managed to chew the knot out of one. After trying to tie it again for 15 minutes with her howling, I called Rachel (her vet) and Rachel offered to re-suture her tonight if we’d bring her in.

The roads weren’t bad when we set out but after the suturing, it was pretty much zero visibility. We pulled off of the highway at one point… only to have a sheriff find us, tap on our window, and ask us why we were sitting in a ditch. When we explained that we had no idea where we were because of the blowing snow, he instructed us on how to get out and then had us follow him to our town. This was really good because all we could really see were his lights at some points.

My BAD little girl

Off to try and get Freya to sleep and then myself!

Bush Ads

The Bush ads are airing here in Minnesota. Apparently, we’re a “swing state”. This puzzles me because no Republican has ever taken Minnesota in a presidential election in my life time. About 80% of the people here are DFL. The state produced Paul Wellstone for pete’s sake!
