In Canada and Smug Pollution

Yes… I’m in Canada for a couple days of R&R, being by myself, and finishing some personal projects.Â? (Sorry for not getting in touch with you Dave — it was kind of a last minute thing.)Â? Jon met me at work last night and we headed for the border.Â? Customs was a breeze and we were in Lethbridge PDQ.

At Christmas, a couple of us were talking about the obnoxious smugness that goes along with “being green” and we were going to come up with a board game for next year about it.Â? Any thoughts, tales, whatever on the subject?

(For those who are wondering why this is a problem,Â? there are some people who act like they are just so perfect for buying hybrid vehicles, having those cloth bags at the grocery store, and getting their power from green sources.Â? I’m not implying that any of those things are bad — it just gets tiresome when people talk about the evil people who don’t carpool or recycle which includes me because one can’t do either of those things easily when one lives in rural Montana.)

About Jen

Jen isn't quite sure when she lost her mind, but it is probably documented here on Meditatio. She blogs because the world needs her snark at all hours of the night... and she probably can't sleep anyway.

  1. Hey NP, I biked 60 KM yesterday, getting in the last of my K for the year, so trip to Lethbridge wouldn’t have fit the plans.

    – Peace

You know that’s a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Especially when being able to “go green” is a luxury of the middle and upper classes. So many of these Smug Greenies never stop to think that gee, the people who (gasp) shop at Wal-Mart because THAT IS ALL THEY CAN AFFORD. And I’d love to know WTF these folks who completely stick their noses up at consumerism are *typing* on anyway.

Happy New Year, Jen and God bless. You have struggled a lot this year, and you have won. You have a LOT to be proud of.

  3. dayna, stay tuned for more posting on the subject of smug pollution.

thanks for the props. i appreciate the encouragement.
