caroling rehash

i was reflecting on last week’s caroling this morning and i remembered that some of us had been singing “this little light of mine” as we were walking through porter. it’s really interesting that we were singing it then because porter is one of the most “dark” colleges on campus. we actually have people from there in the fellowship this year (praise God!) but there is still a very anti-christian sentiment there. we did a few songs there since they seem to like us or at least think we’re amusing. the words “this little light of mine/ i’m gonna let it shine/let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!!!” probably would have gotten us jumped had it been any other time but somehow they let us do it under the guise of our christmas caroling. very interesting…

yesterday at church, don played two john michael talbot/michael card songs during communion. i have to say… it was perfect timing after his sermon on how Jesus suffered. he played “come to the table” and “advent suite” (since yesterday was the first sunday of advent). i got both off of napster when i got home and i think i am now addicted to john michael talbot. the guy has an *amazing* testimony and i was completely blown away when i read it.

ok… one final today and one a day for the next two days. i think i can manage that. 🙂

caroling

i went caroling last night with iv and it was soooo wonderful. it’s been a long time since i’ve been caroling (if ever) and it was wonderful to get to sing christmas music even though it isn’t advent yet. we went to 8 colleges last night and i’m sore today, but people loved listening to us. some even taped us. 🙂

mea culpa!

well… i have 4? pages of my paper done. hopefully i can get that last page and a half done tonight. i will also have kirtana check it during office hours.

joanna (my sister-in-law) emailed me and reminded me that i left a few things out of my description of thanksgiving:
-their charming good looks (not mentioned because i do not want competition with other girls for jon. joanna is beautiful and witty and insightful. attn guys: DATE HER!!!!)
-i won the harry potter trivia contest. (i rock!!! i am da queen!!!!)
-my mother-in-law victoria needs help in the yard. a strong, young guy (preferably a hottie) is needed. talk to me if you are interested.
-their quantity of cats. they have three cats: kelly (who is a jellicle cat and tried to displace me on the bed — the nasty cat would move to my pillow every time i got up in the middle of the night); tim (a fluffy grey cat who is a handsome beast); and nick — the tabby who is getting mighty BIG these days. (though… i think that tom and jann’s cat tom kitty is still the LARGEST of them all.)
-their cats’ intelligence: kelly is very intelligent… and very domineering. the two toms are quite intelligent as well though nick still likes to eat his tail.
-they are wonderful people. they really are. i felt totally loved this weekend. better joanna? (and yes i know that my grammar usage is atrocious.)

art history

well… i got two pages of art history done last night which leaves me 3 to do tonight so that i can have it to show her tomorrow. i’m realizing why i didn’t choose to go into art history — it’s not easy to write about and i just really am not good at it. after that…. history and soc to write. anyone want to contribute to the effort?

thanksgiving

well… thanksgiving was lovely. the lack of updates reflects the fact that i was home and couldn’t do entries from there. ( i know. i know. i should get blogger. riiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhhhhhttttt….)

i spent it with my in-laws (to be) in claremont. i flew down with jon on wednesday afternoon and stayed until saturday. (jon does 4 services on sunday so he had to be back early.) we went to church and fed the homeless on thursday, which will stick in my memory because i fainted from lack of blood sugar. (attn: people. fainting is not fun.) on friday, i got to meet jon’s grandparents and we went out for middle eastern food (which is probably still at jon’s house. oops!!) we also watched “keeping the faith” which was pretty funny. saturday morning, jon and i took a walk and really got to talk through a lot of things.

for those of you wondering about my art history midterm, i did well on the test and pretty much bombed the paper. it was one of those papers where i had no set idea in my mind of how i would write it — i just wrote and wrote and turned it in since it was the essay part of my midterm. i have another 6 page paper due thursday and i at least have some ideas of my argument.

update: i talked to my professor on tuesday and she said that i’d actually done pretty well on the paper — she’d put a lot of criticism since she knows that i’m heading to grad school in a few years. so i got a b+ on it. woooohooooo!!!!

addendum to the muzzles request

let me abridge my comment from yesterday’s entry to say that the muzzles only apply to the demon children on the third floor and to some friends that visit the room of one of the people on my wing. these are the people who *know* that they are behaving inappropriately because i’ll hear them pounding on someone’s door, screaming, “open up or that girl will start yelling at me to be quiet again!!!”

driving instructors suck

ok… my driving instructor failed to show up (then again, i gave up after wating an hour for him. 15 minutes is understandable but an hour is unexcusable.)

oh yes… anyone know of a place i can get muzzles for the frosh in my dorm. the little brats haven’t figured out that running up and down the halls as well as talking very loudly after 10 pm is a bit disturbing to those who want to sleep.
