7 Quick Takes — More Late Night Randomness

7 Quick Takes

It’s 11:30 and I’m online again on a Thursday night. Not a good thing for sleep, I guess. Here are my seven random thoughts.

01.) Rachel on Big Brother needs to be eliminated… NOW. With Dani as HOH, it might conceivably happen?

02.) What is up with drivers cutting across 3 lanes of traffic without signalling? Seriously… somebody is going to get hurt one of these days… especially at the 580/680 interchange when there’s a line backed up and it’s impossible to get in or out.

03.) I’m down in San Jose with my parents. It was supposed to be in the triple digits this weekend up in Sac (which they’ve now amended to 95F) and it’s at least 10-15 degrees cooler down here.

04.) I’m hoping Daniel sleeps in tomorrow. It would cause much joy in my life. I’d also be a nicer person.

05.) I’m trying to find time to record the first episode of my podcast. It’s going to be about faith, life, and raising a child with developmental delays. Details will come later.

06.) I forgot my sister-in-law’s birthday. Bad Jen! No cookie! Actually, one of them had a birthday last weekend and one has a birthday on Monday.

07.) I’m re-reading the Dearest Dorothy books. If you haven’t read them and are looking for Christian chick lit, I *HIGHLY* recommend them. The author, Charlene Ann Baumbich, also has stopped by my blog and left comments so she seriously rocks.

Do Me A Favor

Danny, the son of one of the bloggers I read, is having surgery tomorrow to find out what’s causing bleeding around the feeding site in his stomach. This is a kid who deals with cerebrial palsy caused by MSUD, is on oxygen a lot of the time, and is seven years old.

Here’s the favor:

-Go to his website ParadeSchool.Com
(which he hand-coded BTW), surf around, and then email him at paradeschool -at- gmail -dot- com with get well wishes.

Thanks!

FOR TODAY July 25, 2011

Outside my window… sunny and warm. According to Weatherbug, it’s in the 80’s.

I am thinking… about cookie baking for Metanoia’s booth at the Farmer’s Market in a few weeks.

I am thankful… for Daniel’s various therapists.

From the learning rooms… the sign for “more”, body parts, and walking while only holding on to one finger.

In the kitchen… pasta salad made from a Trader Joe’s recipe.

I am wearing… olive-colored t-shirt and sweats.

I am creating… entries for Michelle and a podcast episode.

I am going… to be with my parents this weekend.

I am wondering… how Daniel’s child development person and especially his physical therapist have so much energy. His physical therapist is amazing in that regard.

I am reading… the Dearest Dorothy books by Charlene Ann Baumbich and wishing that she would write more in that series! A.J. Jacobs will have my attention again soon.

I am hoping… Daniel goes down for a good nap after therapy today.

I am looking forward to… the weekend with my parents.

I am hearing… Daniel’s child development person working with him. (Thank God for Easter Seals and that they make home visits.)

Around the house… testing out the Mint floor cleaner that my mother-in-law gave us.

I am pondering… a number of things.

One of my favorite things… Daniel lying on my tummy with his head on his arms staring at me and smiling.

A few plans for the rest of the week… Speech and PT for Daniel tomorrow, nutritionist appointment on Wednesday, and road trip to San Jose (all 2 hours of it) on Friday.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing… Daniel asleep on the hardwood floor after his physical therapist tired him out last week. Being the wonderful mother I am, I took a picture before I took his sandals off and stuck him on a blanket.

Tragedy vs. Shame

Let’s make this very clear.

Amy Winehouse’s death is a shame. Should she have died at 27? No, but it also isn’t surprising.

Norway’s situation is a tragedy. We’re talking 92 people dead (most of them youth) in a country whose population is lower than some U.S. states.

Any questions?

Attention Washington

I don’t give a flying [insert word] whose idea the debt ceiling plan is. In fact, John Boehner and Mitch McConnell had better not get too close to me because I will dopeslap both of them. (I would anyway if I came into contact with either, but those two are being especially stupid right now.) Pretend you like each other and come up with a plan. Mark my words: if a plan isn’t reached and we default, THE ENTIRE HOUSE and 1/3 of the Senate will be out of a job in 2012.

Why is it so freaking impossible for y’all to actually, like, WORK together?

7 Quick Takes: Random Thoughts on Thursday Night

7 Quick Takes

It’s 11:30 and I’m online. Not a good thing for sleep, I guess. Here are my seven random thoughts.

01.) Rachel on Big Brother needs to go… BADLY. The girl is the spawn of Satan and has the horns to prove it.

02.) I so don’t approve of the weather. It was 96 in Sacramento today. I don’t do heat. Enough said.

03.) I wish Blogathon was happening this year. As much as it would make all my health issues worse, I wish I was blogathonning this next weekend.

04.) I can’t believe Daniel went down without a fight. Daniel has started refusing to go down for naps or to bed at night. My policy has been to let him sleep wherever he falls. This means that I’ve found him on top of the coffee table, on the carpet, and on the hardwood floor.

05.) I need to actually do a better job of meal planning for myself. I’m having stomach issues and the last two weeks have been about figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Now that I’m getting a better idea, I should start prepping food ahead of time.

06.) I need to get posts ready for Michelle. I have a lot of ideas but I need to commit them to paper. This would probably work better if I wasn’t so tired all the time.

07.) My massage tomorrow can’t come soon enough. I had a double pain day where I not only had fibro pain but also fatigue pain. I’m counting down to 3:30 tomorrow…

FOR TODAY July 18, 2011

Outside my window… actually very nice and temperate. The 90’s don’t come back until the end of the week so it’s not bad being outside.

I am thinking… actually about nothing in particular. It’s kind of nice to have a quiet mind though mine is probably due to fatigue.

I am thankful… we were able to get more Pediasure for Daniel today without the checker having to call a manager to approve it. Thanks Win Co!

From the learning rooms… still working on the sign for “more” and working on learning parts of the face.

In the kitchen… figuring out what is going to trigger my IBS and what is going to make my fibromyalgia worse.

I am wearing… light green v-neck shirt and khaki capris.

I am creating… entries for Michelle.

I am going… to Sacramento a few times this week.

I am wondering… what other books I should ask for from the library.

I am reading… The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs. I took a break from it to read The Last Time I Saw You by Elizabeth Berg.

I am hoping… I get to work on my Arabic soon. (Our library gives us access to free language lessons through the Mango language database.)

I am looking forward to… my massage on Friday.

I am hearing… Daniel’s child development person from Easter Seals working with him.

Around the house… picking up after my little bear.

I am pondering… if we’re in a season of fighting Daniel to go to bed.

One of my favorite things… playing clapping games with Daniel.

A few plans for the rest of the week… speech and physical therapy tomorrow, bloodwork for Daniel on Wednesday, and my massage on Friday.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing… Snow in Montana — I figured it would be nice for people in a heatwave to see.
