For Whom Should I Be Cheering?

OK… the Bears and the Colts are playing tomorrow in the SuperBowl.Â? Given that all the teams I care about have been knocked out, for which team should I be cheering?Â? Leave me a comment.

The SuperBowl… great commercials with annoying interludes of football.

Just A Few Thoughts

For those who know about me getting rear-ended while turning onto the road through town, I’m OK and in one piece.Â? (I am utterly amazed at the number of drivers who haven’t heard of turn signals — I. WAS. USING. MINE. AND. THEY. IGNORED. IT. AND. TRIED. TO. PASS. ME.Â? I really have no pity for them because they also were really rude to me after they hit me.)Â? Give me a couple days to get over the sore muscles and I’ll be my normal ornery self.Â? :)Â? The stupidheads who hit me managed to do some pretty decent damage to their pick-up though.Â? (My car is still driveable though it needs some body work and the tail-light replaced.)

Well… we were driving home tonight and going about 10 mph under the speed limit because visibility was crappy and snow was blowing on the roads.Â? (In other words, not weather in which you should be doing upwards of 65 mph) and some idiot decided to tailgate us with their brights on.

OK… let’s talk about common sense.Â? If there’s crappy visibility due to fog or blowing snow, your brights aren’t going to help — in fact, they make it worse.Â? Secondly, if there’s blowing snow, the road conditions are worse than usual and this means that going the normal speed limit is not incredibly advisable.Â? Sorry… I’d rather get home later if it means I get home in one piece.

People!Â? Use your brains!!!!!

Writer’s Block from Lack of Freedom

OK… I’ll admit it.

I can’t write like I used to.

When I was 22-23 (i.e. the year 2003), I could write angsty entries about pretty much any subject and I rarely had the writer’s block I do now. I wrote about politics, religion, current events, etc with no problem whatsoever. These days… I can’t really write about anything because I have to self-censor. There’s this fear that someone from one of Jon’s churches is going to find the blog and out me or that some future employer is going to google me and find it or the admissions people at whatever grad school I attend are going to use this blog as an excuse to deny me entrance.

Dude… the synod pastor in SW MN Synod described this site as “further evidence of self-destructive behavior on [my] part” after some people at MN Church #1 found it and used it to get at Jon. Like I can really blog out feelings here now?

A lot of my friends who are my age are giving up their blogs, trimming down their online presences, or just not writing as much. Many are adopting passworded sites if they’re going to write and it seems like the carefreeness that we all enjoyed 3 years ago is gone because people are now using whatever we write as a basis for employment or as a way to get into our business.

Am I the only one feeling this way?

ROFL and All That Jazz

Thus saith Sara:

blessed are those who hunger, for their bowls shall be filled. now.

New kitty has a name! She is Beatitudes, aka Bea.

So far so good on the inter-feline relations. Bea is letting Queen Gracie rule, and being non-agressive. Blessed are the meek, for they shall not have their asses handed to them by big yellow kitties.

Had to laugh at that one…

I Will Die Happy

I just got to see Robin Williams sing “Blame Canada” at the 2000 Oscars via YouTube.

God bless technology!

(And yes, I do know that I am a pathetic human being.Â? Deal with it.)
